The Words in the Title are spoken by the Greatest Authority on ALL matters, the Lord Jesus Christ, and are taken from the Gospel of John, Chapter 10, verse 28

The Greek text here is much stronger: "κἀγὼ δίδωμι αὐτοῖς ζωὴν αἰώνιον, καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀπόλωνται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα". Note the words, "καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀπόλωνται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα", which literally means, "shall certainly not perish forever". Or, "by no means" as we have the double negative, "οὐ μὴ". This is the promise from Almighty God, to ALL who place their trust in Jesus Christ, and are born-again by God the Holy Spirit.

We have the same promise in Chapter 8, where again Jesus says: " Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death". Here also we have the double negative in the Greek, "θάνατον οὐ μὴ θεωρήσῃ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.", literally, "death by no means shall see forever".

Then, we have the promise of Jesus to Martha, when He tells her that her brother will rise again. "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”. Where we again have the double negative in the Greek, "καὶ πᾶς ὁ ζῶν καὶ πιστεύων εἰς ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα. πιστεύεις τοῦτο", "and everyone who lives and believes in Me, by no means shall die forever". It is interesting that in each case, we also have the words, "εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα", which English versions omit, "for ever", or, with the definte Greek article, "τὸν", "for all eternity".

In John Chapter 5 we have a further promise from Jesus Christ, about the "eternal life" of every believer.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life". (verse 24). Firstly, we have in the phrase, "ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον", (has eternal life), where "ἔχει" (has) is in the "present continuance" tense in the Greek, which is "something already possessed", when the sinner believes in Jesus for their salvation. We then have, "μεταβέβηκεν ἐκ τοῦ θανάτου εἰς τὴν ζωήν.", that is, "has passed out of death into life". Here "μεταβέβηκεν" (has passed) is in the "perfect" tense in the Greek, thereby showing that when the sinner believes on Jesus Christ, the transition from death to eternal, has already taken place, and remains permanent.

ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED, for ALL who are truly saved by faith in Jesus Christ ALONE!

I'm so proud of myself ... I actually got down to your 3rd sentence, which is above.

Who cares about double negatives in the Greek, etc. ...
when The holy Spirit is quite capable of revealing what the English words mean!
Thou art in the greatest need of the latter (the last part of the above sentence).

Your OP title refers to John 10:27-28, and Jesus is talking about believers who:
HEAR His voice, KNOW Him, and FOLLOW Him.
How many of the 3 do you qualify for?

If you're not color-blind, please notice the red.
Forget colors ... thou are spiritually blind.

The original texts was recorded down to us in the Koine greek though, and so would take precedence over the English!

Well, I agreed with your statements entirely, if it's any consolation. Don't know why you got mean reply's. That's exactly the sort of 'teaching' I would have benefited from as a new, frightened Christian, many years ago. I see many people in the church today who are afraid they will be 'cast out' because of 'not being good enough'. Fortunately, God sent an elderly couple my way who mentored me.

Glory to God for His indescribable gift!

Luke 18:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

So which one are you?... Enough said!... Brother Glen:Whistling

Since you wish to know the process, Jesus makes it clear, John 6, the people were following Him because he had fed them, but were arguing, grumbling among themselves as to how Jesus could be Messiah, Jesus gives the ENTIRE PROCESS, HOW IT WORKS, FROM A-Z, TULIP IF YOU LIKE. "Why do you grumble among yourself, do you not know that you ARE UNABLE TO COME TO ME UNLESS THE FATHER WHO SENT ME DRAWS HIM", so we are "Unable" in Jesus words to come to Him unless a third party event happens, and what is that event, "Unless the Father DRAWS Him", He continues "ALL (Not Some) that the Father DRAW, WILL COME", so basic language, how many of those drawn will come? "All", and to finalize "Those coming to me I will NEVER CAST OUT"

Here we have Total Depravity, "You are UNABLE to come to me", Unconditional Election, "unless the FATHER DRAW HIM", "Limited, or better Definite Atonement, "ALL that the Father draw WILL COME", "Irresistible Grace" ALL that the Father draw WILL COME", and Perseverance of the Saints, "All that come to me I will not cast out"

I've seen hundreds of Scholarly Calvinism/Arminian debates, I've read most Arminian Commentators, and to date have seen one jump the wall of John 6.

How about some others? We always go to the same ones. Hebrews 10:14, "For by one offering He has PERFECTED FOR ALL TIME those who are being sanctified". Hebrews 10 is a treatment on the difference between the Old and New Covenants, in the Old the people had to keep going back, year after year, yet even that was just a reminder of sins for the blood of bulls and goats cannot remove sin, so referring to the better covenant, the Author explains what Christ, the High Priest did for us, He has PERFECTED FOR (HOW LONG) ALL TIME, those who are being sanctified.

So no salvation is NOT OF YOU, no you cant brag that you are more moral than your neighbor, can't argue that you are smarter or any other thing, the only thing you can brag of, if you are truly a Christian, is that "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, the righteous for the unrighteous", and that "In love, He PREDESTINED US for adoption to Himself". This occurred, by the way, BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, so no oh man you had nothing to do with it, zero, you were a fellow rebel, and God, FOR HIS PURPOSES decided to pardon SOME CRIMINALS, He'd be unjust to pardon all, in fact for someone who has no need of us, we who are useless to Him, for Him to send His own Son to live a righteous life in our place, and take our punishment upon Himself for us is breathtaking, it's a demonstration of the Love and Mercy of our God.
