Is Acts 17:30 only the elect or the entire human race?

Yes, corporeal resurrection. Several instances of Him raising the dead. Lazarus, Jairus's daughter, the widow of Naim's son to just name a few.

Dead ears hear nothing. A dead brain understands nothing, a dead man can do nothing. Only the living hear, understand, and obey.

1 Corinthians 2:14 Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

If you heard, you were already alive in Christ, by the regenerating Grace of Almighty God.

How about - Like Lazarus He brought me to life with His word.

Had you been alive before, like Lazarus?

John 11:11 He said these things, and after that, he said to them, “Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep.”

John 11:11 He said these things, and after that, he said to them, “Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep.”

Yes, like Paul the law had put me to death. At the time I was in the USAF and after reading the OT law (Leviticus) my guilt came down on me and I DIED, when I got to the Book of John, I heard His voice and I came alive in a moment of time and I knew it and I will never forget it even in eternity.

Romans 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

Look,(in my case) I know I had nothing to do with it. I was put to death by the Law and trying to run away from God, nevertheless I was compelled to keep on in the scriptures until The Spirit brought me to Jesus Christ who forgave my sins and gave me life eternal and the promise of the resurrection.

John 10
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.

I don't have to try to figure out what came first, last, before, after, whatever, I am alive in Him and He did it.

I said "in my case" because we are all different and He meets us where we are.

Ya, ya I know I'm a semi-pelican (or something).

Would someone tell me why "dead" means "dead" when you are talking about "dead in sin" but it doesn't mean "dead" when you are talking about "dead to sin"

How about "you came alive and heard His voice?" :D

I agree. It is not HOW we got in Christ, it is that we ARE in Him. :)

Because the New Man in Christ can never die. The New Man IS "dead to sin" in Christ. It is the Old Man who causes all the trouble. :)

Great observation! Some doctrines are built on selective .hermeneutics. All means everyone here, only the elect there and so forth. As used, to be spiritually dead means to be separated spiritually from God, and unable by our own works to cross the gap. But 1 Corinthians 3:1 teaches men of flesh can understand spiritual milk, even though they are dead in sin. Paul had to speak to the spiritually immature as to "men of flesh."

Consider Matthew 23:13 where unregenerate men are entering the kingdom of ;heaven. Obviously they have some (limited) spiritual ability.

And just as obviously, Acts 17:30 refers to all mankind, those who are and will be saved, and those who are not and never will be saved.

Those who have just the sin nature CANNOT grasp and apply the spiritual truths of the Bible, its like a Japanese person trying to understand English!

LOL, 1 Corinthians 3:1 demonstrates your fake doctrine is unbiblical. Matthew 23:13 demonstrates you fake doctrine is unbiblical.

Do you have scripture to support that opinion?

its like a Japanese person trying to understand English!
Lots of Japanese people understand English. And vice versa.

I have been to Japan four times and never had any trouble finding a Japanese person who understood English.

I meant one who only knows there own native tongue! And paul stated that the things of the scripture hidden from unsaved , and the natural man cannot receive the things of God, as they are spiritually discerned, correct?

In my lifetime I have talked with an abundance of people.

Many, many were willing to admit that they were on their way to hell (lake of fire actually).
How did they know that if they were spiritually dead?

Yes, some heard and came to the light others remained in the darkness at THEIR OWN WILL - IMO.

Unless the Spirit enables you yo know the truth and be set free, the death of jesus for your sins makes no sense!

Ever wonder how raising Jesus from the dead offers proof to "all" men if "all" men of flesh are unable to understand spiritual milk. :)

I disagree, Hank. If the will of the lost man was free (free from the bondage of the law of sin and death) there would be no need for Grace.

Even if our wills were free there would still be a need for grace. It wouldn't matter how free our wills are, we can't eliminate the debt we have.

If we were not in bondage to the law of sin and death, we would not owe a debt. It is from that debt for which we are in bondage to the law of sin and death that we must be set free by the sacrifice of Christ. :)
