Biblical reasons other than doctrinal disagreements in support of separation?

Wasn't Luther's separation from the Catholic Church more significant than the separation of denominations from one another? Is the matter at hand one of degree?

Jesus command to us is to love each other who are saved just as he loved us! Paul also commanded us to keep the unity of the Body, so does he not have those passages in his bible?

So, actually not so much "Way of the Master churches" but just any churches that use Way of the Master materials. Thanks!

Here's a twist for you. A church in my area split about ten years ago from SBC to I'm not sure what. They are still members of SBC but the split itself was caused by the speaking of tongues on the part of the pastor's wife. Some of the baptists left and some remained. The rest suddenly became Arminians? Charismatic? Pentecostal? I any event, the last time I visited, the pastor even poked light-heartedly at the baptist members. Unity? Perhaps. I look at it as many folks who weren't sure of what they believed in the first place and probably still aren't.

I am still Fundamental Baptist in my background and upbringing, but in 1985, I separated
myself from that and became an Independent Believer, just as my political preference is an
Independent Taxpayer and Voter. I can attend whatever church I want (within common sense!)
and not have to concern myself about whether I should wear spit-polish shoes or combat
boots; blue jeans or straight-up black stove-pipe slacks; suit and tie or black Call Of Duty
T-shirt (never played the game-I just like the T-shirt), you got the idea I think.

The SBC and KJVO churches have to work out their differences. I don't want to be in the
    middle of it.

Every believer must practice some degree of ecclesiastical separation. Where one draws a line should be in keeping with doctrinal fidelity.

Separation and militant defense of your biblical hermeneutic is not a "bad" thing, despite of the modern wishy-washy evangelicalism that doesn't care for the word.

And each has "preferences" that are non-fundamental or non-doctrinal. These are NOT biblical but personal and should not be a "position" statement you demand others to follow. I prefer lovely, talented, intelligent short-haired brunettes . . . and married the best. :Whistling Does that mean YOU must prefer them (any but MY wife, of course) or be "wrong". No. Just a preference.

Conclusion? 99% of today's "separation" is based on personal or pastoral preference, NOT on clear-cut doctrinal issues. It is often separation from "practices" or implementation, not over biblical truth itself.

They don't teach that. Are you misrepresenting the view out of ignorance, or is is just intentional dishonesty?

Like you are doing with IFB churches?
Sorry you can't on one hand condemn a group for practicing separation when you do so yourself.

Dr. Bob, I so much agree with you, in particular your last paragraph. My husband was an Independent Baptist pastor for the first 13 years in the ministry.
Over time, with the legalism, control over people' lives, taking glory that belonged to Christ and giving it to men and sweeping famous preacher's sins under the rug we made the moved into Southern Baptist circles. The amazing thing about this was, we didn't leave the Independents over doctrine.

I am pointing out that separation includes separating from those who teach false doctrine.
