Hank, so we should just ignore the teachings of Jesus on how we treat our enemies? Surely you are not saying by quoting Romans that the US government is equal to Jesus.

Are you saying that Clinton followed the teachings of Jesus and that by following those teachings Jesus created a mess? That if we follow the teachings of Jesus we will only end up with a mess? Tell me where and how Clinton followed the teachings of Jesus on how we are to treat our enemies. Thanks.

    Timothy 3
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

I don't know about a "mess," but he did say "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword" [Matthew 10:34].

And that negates all his teachings on how we are to treat our enemies. You know, if you read the entire passage, keep the verse in context you might actually discover what he was talking about.

So, you pick and choose and select only those you like. Don't quote one verse and try to make a doctrine out of it that contradicts all the teachings of Jesus about how we treat enemies.

By the way, there is only one verse in the entire Bible that can, with a stretch, be associated with abortion and that verse comes down on the side of the mother.

Translation: "If you see anything different from the way I've made up my mind, it's out of context."

Every church or belief category does that.
So, what is the right way of "treating our enemies?" To chase them out with a whip, as Jesus himself did?

The problem is the DPRK leader won't stay bought. As it's been noted above, it's been tried. And the leader kept pushing.

No I do not pick and choose.

But shame on you for not considering the WHOLE counsel of God..

Advice for you CTB FWIW to you and all of us:

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Un may soon become the object of Romans 13.

A godless communist mass murderer of his own family members and citizens and an obese leader of a starving and impoverished nation due to his own hand by keeping funds of life from his own people.

Those in the Temple were not enemies. They were those who misused Judaism for their own gain.

Please go read what Jesus said.

They were a den of thieves and murderers:

Matthew 23:35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

That results in 2 interesting possibilities. 1) violence can be used against persons who are not your enemies, and 2)
turning God's temple into a "den of thieves" is not enmity with Him.

But do you really think when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor we should have 'turned the other cheek' and withdrew our defenses and invited them to bomb San Diego, too? Or, after 9-11 we should have negated all vetting for immigrants from predominantly muzzlimm countries?

No, we were locked in then. However do you know the reasons why some in Japan felt they had to attack?

And that is an exemption from 'how Christ said to treat our enemies? (supposing, of course, that that applies to a country's battles).

Sure, because weren't buying enough of their transistor radios.[/QUOTE]
