You all ain't southern. Y'all is Southern. Historically, you all is more border state thing. A little further North gets you to youins. ....

Evidently the KJV translators did not use the proper punctuation!

They mistranslated. Y'all and allY'all are two different words in Greek.

I've been reading the SBC position here, and I think you have less to be concerned about than you may initially think. Having not defined Penal Substitution except by what is affirmed in the statement (all which are correct) it looks like they are addressing the movement towards non-violent atonement (the contemporary Mennonite theories of men like Weaver). For an example, compare the Penal Substitution Theory of R.C. Sproul to that of N.T. Wright. Both affirm Penal Substitution but they are worlds apart.

Thanks, JonC; I appreciate your perspective. I'm afraid I don't agree with Wright's penal substitution view, either.

Welcome. I also don't hold to Wright's view, but just wanted to show how diverse PSA can be.

Wright does not hold to it at all, as defined by Reformed!
Neither did Luther (rather than assuming our punishment to appease God's wrath Christ "outweighed the sin and wrath against us" by his merit). Neither did Justin Martyr...by a long shot (Christ died as the representative of the human race). But you count them as holding your view.

If Justin Martyr held your view of the atonement then N.T. Wright holds your view. So does Karl Barth.

I know Wright does not, as he denies that God poured divine wrath upon Jesus, as he stated that makes God abusing Jesus.

Martyr's view was not that God poured out divine wrath upon Jesus. You say he represents your view as well.
Again.

POST THE VERSE AND PUT IN BOLD WHERE PAUL SAYS GOD CURSED JESUS.

POST THE VERSE AND PUT IN BOLD WHERE DEUT. SAYS GOD CURSED HIS HOLY ONE.

POST THE VERSE AND PUT IN BOLD WHERE ISAIAH SAYS JESUS WAS STRICKEN BY GOD

If God did not smite Jesus, who did?

Which verse are you talking about....someone smiting Jesus? Jesus lay down His own life and became a curse for us. The Roman soldiers struck Jesus....is this what you mean?

No, who put Jesus upon the Cross, and wounded/bruised Him, who made Him a curse for us?

The Jews gave him over to the Romans who beat him and later put him on a cross. Jesus laid down his own life. He became a curse for us.
