Besides just ignoring it and never going to the church ever again.

I applied to a job at the church. Not a pastor job but another kind of job where I have a lot of work experience. The first two interviews went well and they said we will contact you in a week. over two weeks later I followed up and they replied they chose someone else.

I was blindsided because I knew God told me to apply. So I asked what the reasons were.

They said that my work experience was very low and I had no skills. In 20 years with thousands of people and jobs complimenting me on my extreme creativity and amazing and astoundingly great work, I knew this was completely wrong. I figured, there must have been some big mixup!

So I asked him again over email that that was not valid and explained that's not even possible due to the statements being so far outside of reality that it made no sense.

This time, silence. I emailed a few more times trying to get a response. I offered to meet in person or talk on the phone and gave my cell phone.

I was respectful in all my emails, giving him the benefit of the doubt he must be busy. I was still interested, although even if not to get hired I would have liked to clear up the accusations of incompetent at my work abilities since it was obviously untrue as no one in my life has said such negative things about my work. I figured it must be a mistake.

Eventually, he replied very rudely and abruptly saying never to contact him again.

Shocked, I replied respectfully that I wanted a reply but I would want to talk with the pastor due to his refusal to talk to me and rude behavior.

Then what happened blew me out of my socks and completely stunned me. As I was in the middle of writing a nice letter to the pastor about the situation asking if I could sit down with the pastor and talk (but had not sent the letter yet), I saw I got another email reply.

It was from the security director of the church, who told me if I contacted anyone at the church ever again that they would call the cops on me.

I was dumbfounded and this shook me to the core. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. From the email you would have thought I had threatened bloody murder, but all I did was send a few, maybe 4, brief and respectful emails with calm language, nothing bad or wrong at all.

So just because this leader of that church department did not feel like addressing my question because they thought their BS and completely false response was plenty to explain why I had been overlooked, and because he did not feel like offering any genuine courtesy, he threatened to call the cops!

Completely unbelievable that a church leader would behave like this.

At this point of course I have no desire to work there. But, this is a serious problem and as representatives of God it is not ok that church leaders can treat people with such disrespect.

Worse, that they would prevent anyone from speaking with the pastor by threatening to call the cops if I even attempted to contact any pastor. This is outrageous and appalling behavior by supposed "Christians".

So what can I do? Obviously, I could let it be and forget about that church. But I do not want to because this is a serious problem that has to be addressed, not for my sake but for the sake of the church.

But of course, now I am fearful of being arrested without cause if I even attempt to speak to the pastor to clear up the matter. What should I do in this case?

    Walk away.

Mark 6:11 "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them."

Thank you for your wise and scriptural advice.

I think this is the lesson God is trying to teach me. Perhaps it's the very reason God wanted me to apply in the first place, to get this learning experience. Not every battle is worth fighting.

I don't know the details of your experience but to be honest, I would be afraid to employ you. You sound quite obsessive and even after being told you didn't have the job, you continued to harass them and I don't blame them for sending you that final e-mail. Walk away from that church. Leave them be. Look for another job and just maybe settle down thinking you are the answer to their prayers. You may have experience but maybe not that would fit their needs and maybe they didn't like your work (in the artistic world, there are many different types of art out there and not everyone will like what you do). It is OK for that to happen. Move on.

It sounds as the employer has a problem, and as a prospective employee you need to be thankful that their attitude was exposed before you were hired.

Do not allow such behavior to rob you of your joy in serving the Lord.

If you do not rely upon this work for your sustenance, then perhaps God is moving you into another field of service.

    Like TCassidy stated, walk away.

Don’t fully agree, as I would be upset also if I were never contacted after being told they would contact me in a specified time & it never happened.

To give an honest opinion as to who was at fault, I would have to see the emails. I never form opinions based on one side of a story. Even when that side tries to be completely honest, bias still clouds perspective.

To be honest, that is pretty much every job out there. I've applied for 6 jobs in the last two months and the only one I heard from was the one that wanted me. The ones I didn't get where they said they would call never did.

That is a sad state of doing business!

    Did you accept the job?

Well, hopefully as jobs get more plentiful, employers will be a bit more conscietous re: employee considerations.
In any case there is no excuse for such blatant disregard for potential workers as they need to know ASAP whether to keep looking or not.

    Three things to consider:
    (1) You may have misheard God.
    (2) They may not be listening to God.
    (3) Just because God may have told you to apply doesn't mean that it is God's will for you to have the job. The application process may have been the point of that - for you OR the church.

Walk away from that situation and stop worrying about it.

Did you use terms like "BS" when you responded to them?

    God bless.
