FYI: There is no "the Antichrist" in scripture, there are only "antichrist".
On the contrary, there are many passages teaching about the Antichrist, here are a few of them:
Daniel 9:24-27
King James Version (KJV)
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
There are also other passages in Daniel which speak of Antichrist, but this will do for now. Other mentions in Daniel also have application to past events involving Antiochus Epiphanes. In this passage we see the Seventieth Week described, and "the prince that shall come" confirms, or strengthens the Covenant of Daniel's People for seven years, but, in the middle of that seven years turns against the Covenant of Law. This is spoken of by Christ:
Matthew 24:15-16
King James Version (KJV)
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
While Preterists view this to refer to the events of AD70, the one thing they are lacking is the fulfillment of Christ's teaching, which has Him returning. If you read the statements of the preterist in this thread...you will see he is trying to deny Scripture even teaches a Return.
Interesting bit of trivia, the Bible never mentions Christ "returning".
So we now have to scrap Revelation 20:4-5, as well as Matthew 24-25 and the various associated parallel teachings of Christ in the Gospels.
Paul spoke of Antichrist:
2 Thessalonians 2
King James Version (KJV)
1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
This is the Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel and Christ. Paul assures the Thessalonians that they need not worry that the gathering of the Church by Christ has taken place yet, or that the Tribulation was in effect, because he pleads with them based on the very Rapture itself (v.1).
His point is, "If the Return of Christ was at hand...the Antichrist would have already been revealed."
And while some like to give Revelation an early writing, it has historically been viewed to have been written in the late First Century. So we look to John's numerous statements about Antichrist as well, and I will just give a few of those:
Revelation 13:1
King James Version (KJV)
13 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Daniel 7:19-24
King James Version (KJV)
19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
Revelation 17
King James Version (KJV)
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
Eight Kings, Five fallen (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece), one current at the time of writing (Rome), and the other not yet come, which is the Kingdom Antichrist arises from. Even if Preterists were right (and they are not)...this shows that another Kingdom other than Rome will come.
So we see that there is an Antichrist who will rise up in the seventh Kingdom, even as Daniel predicts in Prophecy:
Daniel 7:7-8
King James Version (KJV)
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
Prophecy is really very consistent.
The final Kingdom, or Empire that arises will be taken over by the Antichrist, and his rule begins in earnest at the mid-point of the seven year Tribulation. We see in Revelation 11 the Two Witnesses minister for 3 1/2 years, they are then killed, raptured, and then Antichrist begins his reign of terror.
I'll comment on your quotes from John in next post.
