Jesus says the Ten hang from them. So, they precede the Ten and we must not assume an artificial chronology based book order.

The decalogue was for wicked people who could not love God or others. They were good for the wrong reasons. The Two Great Commandments were the rule for the born again like Abraham. You did not need to tell him not to steal.

Which Laws did Jesus fulfill on the cross?
So they were the rule in how to liove for God for those such as Abraham and Moses and David, but not for us?

you think it's by the Ten Commandments being transposed on our hearts?

I think they're saying every human ever born has the ten commandments instilled in them.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Is that what they're saying?

No, these are the backbone of NT ethics. Not the Ten Commandments. If people were good, they wouldn't need the Ten Commandments. In the NT, people are good because of the New Birth.

So we still do not need to obey God and His Moral law then?

No, we are not good, but are redeemed!
i Think this can open a can of worms.

Do you think God wants us walking around going--OH i'm a filthy, Rotten, Wretch, a Worm and Piece of Trash? Do you let your children say that?

Your reformed/calvinist/Lutheran teachings may say that you are a worm, but the NT says I'm a Child of God Most High. ..and that sounds "Good" to me.

I mean, just to be honest--especially because we have "teachers" posting on here for *all to see*--do you REALLY think God's new Covenant is writing "Shall not-s" On our Hearts???????? Think about how that misses the entirety of Christ Jesus' ministry and exposure of the Father. We are One with Him as He is one with the Father--Christ Lives in us--and a bunch of "Shall not-s" is the Proof of that????? That is a shallow view of the NT. Think about it, teacher.

Edit to Add--The Very God of Love lives in our hearts--The Very God of Righteousness Lives in Us--the Very God of Holiness Lives in us--and you think it's by the Ten Commandments being transposed on our hearts?

You antinomian postings do not define love...God's love....and yet when the Apostles define God's love they do it in terms of law keeping....
How do you love God and your neighbor...the ten Commandments....put in your heart by God.ie, you do not murder your neighbor, you do not steal from him, you do not adulterate with your neighbor,or bear false witness...yes....

Maybe the Apostle Paul did not get to read your post....
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Those things are for Unjust, Wicked, God Haters! I'm born from above, Of course i do not want to do those things...My desires are to be a Blessing to those around me--to Honor and Bless the Name of God--not simply "not stealing" "Not cheating on my wife". Loving Her means more than "not being an adulterer". You do realize that, right?

Wonder how they reconcile that with Total Depravity?
Very easily Kyred...

The Ten Commandments instilled in Adam.....broken and damaged by the fall, nevertheless still there.
God in regeneration begins to restore the image in redeemed man......

Paul's thought...when using the LAW to be righteous. You misunderstand Romans 7, as most reformed persons do.

Except the Law is spiritual--and you and others have said because of 1 Cor. 2, an uregenerate man cannot comprehend anything spiritual. You guys don't even see your own contradictions.

That describes paul trying to keep the law, as it was perfect and good, but he was not, so needed the power of the Holy Spirit Himself to be now able to live as HE OUGHT!

Is the law a moral standard or not?

The commandments are given in the negative because we are sinners who need correction. They are given to define and protect the good.

Are you claiming a second work of grace, or you are sinless now Jon...always doing the positive good? Or...does your biblically educated heart ,mind ,and conscience keep you flying right?

Right--Romans 8--living according to the Spirit. There is victory in living in the Spirit.
