Maybe the SBC itself can be taken over - BUT each local SBC cooperating local church is still independent - as they are NOT under control of the SBC.

    BTW - still waiting:
Are you trying to say that the SBC is a church?
A simply "yes" or "No" will do.

That's good. I try to tell the truth as I see it.

Are you a member of an SBC church? I am. While I don't keep up with everything in the convention -- our church only gives toward foreign missions causes and for all practical purposes, abandoned the convention in 2000 -- I do know enough to know that there are no "liberals" (at least by any sane definition) in the SBC.

It's not a scare tactic, but a reality. Baptisms in the SBC are lagging among the young and once students graduate and go off to college, many abandon church altogether.

The article is spinning a conspiracy theory that is quite popular around here. Just a bit of open-minded fact-checking will destroy much of the premise, but most people won't bother because it appeals to their prejudices. The reason Russell Moore has now been declared a "liberal" is because he warned Christians about Donald Trump. Back when Bill Clinton was President, people in the SBC rightly said, "character matters." Now that Trump is President, most people in the SBC say, "We didn't elect him to be pastor." People are angry about Moore pointing that out and bringing scripture to bear against their actions. They now want to destroy him for it. They don't want someone who promotes ethics, they want someone who justifies their actions. But that's what happens to prophets of God. The unrighteous religious people make up excuses to silence the prophets, not realizing that there is a Judgment from God coming.

Among your many misunderstandings, this one takes the cake. I am not really defending anything but telling the truth. I have been through with the SBC since 1997 and have no dog in the fight these folks are trying to provoke. My head does not spin at the thought that the SBC might want to go farther into irrelevance to the Kingdom of God. It is a natural result of the mold that was cast back in the 1970s by Pressler/Patterson.

It is sad to see a group of Christians reject everything they have stood for.

    Judges 3:24 (TLB)
When the king’s servants returned and saw that the doors were locked, they waited, thinking that perhaps he was using the bathroom.

    1 Kings 18:27 (TLB)
About noontime, Elijah began mocking them. “You’ll have to shout louder than that,” he scoffed, “to catch the attention of your god! Perhaps he is talking to someone, or is out sitting on the toilet, or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be wakened!”

    2 Kings 10:27 (TLB)

They wrecked the temple and converted it into a public toilet, which it still is today.

Not sure if I have heard of the Gospel Coalition and Russell Moore names as liberals before.

When you are pushing the left wing social justice agenda you are liberal. Cultural Marxism.

He’s self described as a ‘communitarian’.

Mirriam-Webster: communitarian of or relating to social organization in small cooperative partially collectivist communities.

Sounds like a liberal to me.

What is it you think the Gospel Coalition wants to do? I all I have seen them do is push for churches to be more active in taking care of the poor. They have posted articles were they belive the church should be doing it, not the government.

Then maybe you should do more research. You can start over at SBC voices. By the way if that is all they want to do then why dont they just say that instead of actually calling it "social justice".

SBC voices???? On another thread you labeled that place as one of the locations of a "hate fest". They are ok now?

"sigh" I don't know where you particulars get these ideas from, and it is tiring having to explain why 1+1=2.

My referencing that blog in my last post in no way imposes any sense of judgment on that blog one way or the other. It simply directs you to a source of a particular set of information. Not sure why that needs to be explained.

Why do I need to hunt for these theological liberal positions? You should be able to rattle off their postions since you know them to be liberal? Or is this just about politics? What political liberal postion do they have? Not flying the confederate flag? Not endorsing Trump?

How is that being nasty? Why can't you name a single liberal view?

This has little to do with his Trump position, even though he said we must honor Obama, yet labeled Trump a heretic, this has to do with trying to save the SBC. This has to do with making people aware of the choice that is forthcoming in a few days. Which direction.........left or right. Simple as that.

Soros propaganda pushed in Baptists’ tweet
