Do you guys allow people who have had alien immersion to join your church? If you don't mind, why or why not? Thank you ahead of time for your answers.

If they have a genuine faith and can communicate that as well as have been immersed and can communicate why they were immersed then I have no problem with accepting them as members. God did not give only Baptists the authority to baptize.

Did he give it to the Campbellites......Lutherans......Presbyterians.....Methodists ?

Looks like Baptists were the only ones he could have given the authority to.....none of the others were in existence.

For the most part those listed fail at leas one test of proper NT Believer's immersion. They do not hold to the proper meaning of the Ordinance.

The authority was given to the local NT assembly\congregation. Of which, Baptist may or may not be a descriptor.

Tell us who the descriptor would be ?

The church he gave authority to was promised his presence till the end ofthe world.

    You didn’t like my answer......so what’s yours ?

Yes. Though, I'm just not married to the descriptor "Baptist". I am married to:
Ekklesia: An organized, autonomous band of Immersed Believers, having NT officers, practicing NT Ordinances, and actively carrying out the Great Commission.
    I further hold to:
Bible: The only rule for Faith and practice.
    Regenerate-Immersed Church membership
Autonomy and Independence of the local church
    Priesthood of the Believer

    Separation of Church and State
Immersion of Believers and Lord's Supper the only two ordinances
    2Separtion Ethical and Eccelesiastical.
Your "The church he gave authority to was promised his presence till the end of the world." meets what I stated above. However, what is on the sign out front of the meetinghouse may or may not be Baptist.

Yes we pretty much are in agreement. The group that was given the authorityto baptize .... ALL of them had experienced Baptist baptism.

Did God not give it to the "church" which is the pillar and ground of Truth? (1 Timothy 3:15) So, other false churches are not the church, therefore they have no authority to baptize. Someone mentioned church of Christ? They are a cult, Campbellites. Lutherans don't believe that Jesus is sufficient for salvation, as well as Episcopal and especially Catholics and on and on. So you accept any who have been immersed? No church no authority. Just because they call themselves a church does not mean that they are. Not trying to stir things up, but its good to know what others are doing.
So tell me, do you guys have open communion also?

I was not speaking to false churches. I would think in a conversation we have that is a given.

The first Baptist was John The Baptist, but after his death there wwas no Baptist denom for a good while. Some of Jesus' disciples baptized, but there were no denominations then.

I believe "alien baptism" would be baptism by some pseudo-quasi-Christian outfit, as I believe true baptism can be performed only by a true Christian.

No, none that we consider alien baptism. We would consider any baptism "alien" if not by immersion, not performed on a believer, and not performed by an authorized administrator.

I would add to that non-trinitarian. Baptism is in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

That's a problem that arises from folks coming from a Continental Ana-Baptist tradition.

What to think about those who practice trine (3x) immersion, since once for each of the three persons in the Godhead would seem to conflict with the scriptural "one baptism" principle?

And then what about the immersion face down method often associated with such? Seems to conflict with the "buried" imagery, no?

Authorized Administrator is the key. With the person being authorized by the "true" church. Not by an organization claiming to be a church that teaches false doctrine, such as tongues, faith healers, losing your salvation, homosexual marriage and such.

What then if an "authorised administrator" has performed many baptisms but then apostasizes and denies the faith? This has happened many times before, and I personally have been in one such otherwise conservative Baptist church where the pastor resigned because he could no longer believe in God.

Obvious it has to be something more than just the administrator.
