Is it sinful to pray for an evil person’s death?

I know a person who continually harms people, wrecks lives intentionally and will not stop. So
Is it sinful to pray for an evil person’s death?

Please advise by sighting scripture.

I would not pray directly for the death of anyone. Vengeance belongs to the Lord (Romans 12:19). However, I would pray for God to deal with the evil-doer. Perhaps God will gloriously save that person. Perhaps God will judge them. Perhaps God will not restrain the evil for the time being but use it to test and purify His church. Perhaps...

God knows the heart, so yes a conditional prayer IF a person remains unrepentant then perhaps.
Paul delivered up people for the destruction of the flesh - whatever that means it does not sound good.

Paul did that having apostolic authority, something we lack. We do not err if we petition God for justice and to restrain evil while leaving the “how to” in His hands.

We may know of the situation but only God knows the depth of it... We think according to our limited understanding Lord its time for you to intervene?... Why the delay?... Don't you hear your suffering children?... Gods time is always the right time, even when we question it... Brother Glen

Yes however if we pray to him for a resolution then his solution might be to take the evil doer out. I’ve experienced too many times to avert it from reality.

Then if you have experienced it, why do you need confirmation from the brethren?... No brother here has lived Steve's life or walked in his shoes... Neither has anyone walked in mine... Do what your heart, soul and mind in the Lord compels you to do... You know your reality!... Like our Pastor use to say... Pray and row towards shore!... Brother Glen

Glen, right now I am grappling with a evil individual who makes it a habit of lying to and hurting others. Frankly I have asked the Lord to take the person out... if He wants her gone then that’s what I’m aiming for. My question is, do I have responsibility for praying for it?

To me personally, I would pray thy will be done... And I know its hard watching those you love suffer... Its hard to wait as you think something should have been done long ago... How many times has the Lord showed us mercy, when we didn't deserve it?... Too many times, in my case... I find when I give up and surrender, then God can show me how he works... Let Go... Hank, I probably did not explain myself well. Paul judged a man while not present (1 Corinthians 5:3). As an Apostle he was able to do that. We have steps to follow in order to judge like that. Even when the church does judge through church discipline, it is limited to excommunication. The church has no right to call for the death of someone. Even when Ananias and Saphirra were killed it was not a normative example for the Church. The state is charged with the punishment of evil doers. This is why I will not pray for God to kill someone, although I recognize He may do so if if He so chooses. And if He does? His will be done.

I thought the same when a next door neighbor dropped dead in a courtroom after getting arrested for putting the barrel of a deer rifle to his wife’s head and threatening her life... same response- thy will be done.
