Like the Immaculate Conception... Was Mary Sinless?
Same ole, same ole.
There are no apostles now to whom God speax directly. If anyone has ACTUAL authority in a church, he uses it strictly in accordance with SCRIPTURE. Again, show us a source of intel about God besides Scripture.
Seriously? Give me a break.
No, just tired of the ridiculous characterizations of Mohler from you people. You like him--are you neo-Calvin?
No, just tired of the ridiculous characterizations of Mohler from you people.
Again...please show us another source of intel about God besides Scripture.Scripture never teaches this. If it did we would not be debating. Give me the verse. If I don't see a bible verse next response that plainly spells out this FALSE teaching of yours, then we both know it is a LIE.
Absolutely.Do you think that Mohler is a kind person?
The Church.Again...please show us another source of intel about God besides Scripture.
Which gets its direction from? The Church.
God. Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. This is ALSO reported in scripture.Which gets its direction from?
And HOW do they get this direction?God. Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. This is ALSO reported in scripture.
You and the other Protestants posting have demonstrated that you have no understanding of what is meant by infallibility. Your concept of infallibility is like that of a faucet, whereby a pope can turn it out, say something, and truth starts pouring out.
The reality, however, is that infallibility is a negative gift, not a positive one. (An important philosophical distinction.) The word itself comes from two Latin words meaning "not to be mistaken." It is thus not a faucet, but rather more like a levy. It prevents the river of truth from overflowing and turning into a swamp. This difference between a river and a swamp is a swamp has no banks. When the Church declares something infallibly, she is stating with certainty what is or is not the faith of the Church.
This is why Protestantism in general is in the mess that is in; for it has no organ, body or mechanism who can define and declare what is or is not the faith of Protestantism. Thus the Protestant version of Christianity is one that is merely subjective religion; meaning each individual Protestant becomes his own determiner (and actual creator) of truth. He / she decides what is or is not the Christian faith for himself. This, of course, is contrary to the religion of the Logos, which is a religion of revelation; whereby man discovers truth and conforms his will to it.
To suggest the Church is not infallible implies Christ left no means to instruct and sanctify the faithful, per His own command. For if the Church is not infallible in her doctrine, then there is no way of knowing what is or is not the faith.
2 Timothy 2And HOW do they get this direction?
Notice all of that is saying we get it from SCRIPTURE.2 Timothy 2
2The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
1 Timothy 3
15but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.
2 Corinthians 3
3being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
4Such confidence we have through Christ toward God. 5Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, 6who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
The Church is the pillar and ground of truth. The Christian is made adequate by God. NOT WITH INK, but the spirit of GOD.
Long before the bible existed There is the Church.
2 Timothy 3
16All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
Scripture is God breathed and it is PROFITABLE. PROFITABLE = HELPS.
A bike is PROFITABLE for going home. That does not mean you are forbidden from taking a Car.
Notice it doesn't say Scripture is REQUIRED nor does it state Scripture IS the teaching.
Look at the exchange between us. I'm giving you scripture. You have yet to provide one verse. You only provide your own philosophy reasoning.
Notice all of that is saying we get it from SCRIPTURE.
He provided no such evidence.therefore, he is providing Scriptural evidence of the Church being the pillar and foundation of Truth.
Where? That also has not been shown. The Scripture also declares that it is NOT the sole basis for Truth. As he has also mentioned.
No. The church was always around. It gets reported in scripture.Notice all of that is saying we get it from SCRIPTURE.
He provided no such evidence.
Where? That also has not been shown.
No, he gave the verses and then expect us to accept the RCC commentary on those verses.Don't be deliberately obtuse... he quoted the verses that support these truths completely.
