The Bible teaches us that it is appointed unto man once to die and afterwards is the judgement.

Death is death and death is final

The book by Don Piper (90 Minutes in Heaven) is very unfortunate. He claims to not know if he actually died or not in the beginning and claiming not to care. He then shifts gears within the book being not sure, to definitely dead.

Again, very confusing and unfortunate. It would have been better had the book not been written especially since it casts doubt upon the finality of death when scripture is quite clear

I do not think it is a dead Christianity to not have the kind of miracles that took place in the New Testament. One can do greater works than Jesus according to His words without performing any miracles. A dead Christianity may be one without the power of the Spirit, but not in the sense of lacking miracles. Having a form or outward appearance of godliness without the power of it would be a dead Christianity. An outward form of Christian religion without the power of it, without the conviction of the Spirit and new hearts in its professors by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit is a dead Christianity.

Yes I have come across that. Someone I knew who prayed for God to heal a baby, was so demanding, I thought he sounded as if he was trying to hypnotise God.

A friend of mine who was in a charismatyic church said he told them never to pray for him as when they prayed for healing the person always died. I told him 30 years ago he should leave that type of church as they are cults. He always said I was wrong. About 2 years ago he began to come to my old church (We moved about 13 months ago.) He then said "I wish I had listened to you 30 years ago."

Yeah, they are always commanding God (indirectly) and commanding demons (directly) which the NT says that we are not to do

Smith Wigglesworth was a charlatan. He could not heal. I was loaned a book of him. He said he met a woman in the street and asked how she was and she said her arthritis was playing up. He said "come to the meeting tonight and you will be healed," If he was a healer he would have been able to heal her there and then and would not need a large audience to whip up hysteria and hypnotize them to think they have been healed.

    I believe

    1. Healing - Possible through faith and Jesus
    2. Healers - No healing divinely by man.
    3. Death - We all must pass through these waters
    4. Faith- Is a great asset in life
5, Asking - We are encouraged to ask and hang in faith as scripture says...

    1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
    4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? - Luke 18:1-8

She kept coming back! Kept coming back! Kept coming back!

I remember hearing a local preacher say that he saw a mighty demon sitting on someone. Back in the 1830's, in Edward Irving's Charismatic Church, Robert Baxter, one of Irving's prophets said the pastor nodded in the direction of a person, and baxter said "I saw a mighty power resting on him."
What did they see, if anything?

It doesnt matter what I think he saw.

And yes, people fabricate this stuff all of the time. I was kicked out of a church for something just like this 17 yrs ago and about 10-15?other families left as well Thankfully, the church later folded.

Maybe there was nothing to see?

With God absolutely nothing is impossible.

    Matthew 7

7“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9“Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? 10“Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

12“In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Satan agrees God will do nothing for anyone.

There is a Vineyard church a few miles from here that has a healing room. They also teach Bethel Sozo. A friend of mine who attended that church said they practice hypnotism. The main leader he calls the Wizzard,

I believe if one is called to the ministry of pastoral care that one has got to know how to hang in faith with people. Even if they do not get better the time in faith, hope, comfort, and prayer is greatly appreciated.

As long as you are not discounting (regard a possibility, fact, or person as being unworthy of consideration because it lacks credibility) the Word of God.... I agree!

And to agree on a few points...

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. - 2 Corinthians 4:6-7

The power is of God and not of individuals. If God is working through us it is he to get the glory and not any creature.

Giod can NEVER be forced to do anything though, as we cannot use the "law of faith" tp order Him around!

How could you and all see the signs that happened in the New Testament churches, if it is midnight end all are sleeping? And because all are sleeping, the Enemy, through his messengers, has sowed and is sowing tares a lot in the churches, as was sowed in the churches of Asia, even most angels they fell.

How to see those signs if the the Spirit speaks EXPRESSLY, that in the latter times - even now - they shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron -1Ti.4:v.1-2 ?

How to see those signs if the time did come they endure not sound doctrine; but after their own lusts they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears? And they have turned away their ears from the truth, and turned unto fables? 2Ti.4:v.3-4

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

There are greater things going on. All those that Jesus healed died anyway.
