Moving on from the NIV ...

I've decided I will no longer be using the NIV as my primary translation.

Comments, anyone?

Thoughts are this is a good move. Functional equivalent versions (in my opinion) should never be a primary translation but a secondary.

Stick to more formal versions like the nas and Nkjv. and if still want to use Niv, grab hold of a 1984 edition!

The NIV is a translation I have tried my best to dislike, but I keep coming back to it.

Not very different from Niv in my opinion, but according to the experts ESV is word for word.

Yes! I'm now using the ESV for general reading, and the NASB for in depth study.

From my perspective, the ESV does, indeed, appear to be a "word for word" translation, but I always appreciate hearing your point of view, sir.
