In another thread now closed, a poster stated, “ I think you may be surprised at who makes it to heaven. And many of that number may not belong to the Christian faith” (or words to that effect)

I was surprised by the comment, given the many scripture references that clearly state Jesus is the only way to salvation.

So my question is, do you believe non-Christians can make it to heaven? If you do, what is the basis of their salvation, if not Jesus?

    peace to you

I agree. I see one vote “yes” so far. I really do want to understand how someone can claim Jesus as Savior but still believe people who are not Christians will some how make it to heaven.

    Peace to you

How does one count pre-NT Jewish believers and other OT saints? Where will they be?

Hebrews Chapter 11 answers that question. It lists Old Testament "saints" and states that they were counted as righteous by their Faith. What did they have faith in? The revealed Word of God. The earliest fathers of our Faith had a very limited revelation of the Word of God, but their faith in it was strong nonetheless. Then in John 1:1, it is revealed to us that the Word of God is Christ Jesus himself.

The Old Testament believers in believing God's Word, believed in the same thing we do, The Son of God, The Word of God, Jesus Christ himself.

Edit: I did not vote, so don't assume I am the "Yes" vote. If I had to choose between the two, I would have to say "No," but I could understand why someone would say "Yes."

There's a big difference between what God can do and what God says He will do.

Could God save non-Christians? I suppose so, although I don't know how. But will God save non-Christians? No. He has already stated that salvation is for the elect, those who are in Christ.

I appreciate the point. However, It seemed the argument was that people from other faiths would make it to heaven. That’s what I’m asking.

    peace to you

Believers were first called Christians in Antioch, not by God but by mocking heathens!

    Who will be in heaven?

Saints, believers, those chosen by God and redeemed by Him, and of course a host of other created we see only glimpses of such as cherubim, seraphim (as a child I thought they were moms and dads), Angeles, and others.

Personally, I question how many who claim to be Christians will be in heaven, but that is not for me to determine, just question.

No, for there is but one name under heaven by which any sinner can be saved by!

That would be the only group that would be "non Christian",as the name did not exist even yet during their lifetimes!
But think OP refers to other religions and faiths saving us apart from Jesus!

One must be cautious in proclaiming salvation is in the “name” of Jesus.

“Thou shall call his name, Jesus, for He shall save Hos people from their sins.”

The name itself doesn’t save, but the person bearing that name (as well as Emanuel, prince of peace, Lord, Christ, Messiah, ...) does the saving.

Also, when it comes to the actual name, is it Jesu, Joshua, Yeshua, Iso, ....? Over 90 some can be found.

Just so everyone stays understanding about the Savior.

Think when one says Lord Jesus, Jesus Christ, Jesus the Messiah, we all know who is being spoken of!

When those who obtained "approval" through or on the basis of faith in God, we made "perfect" they became Christian, as a consequence of being washed with His blood.

As the OP author said, this is off topic and opinions vary as to the validity of the claim.
