I believe God chose to use born anew believers to be His ambassadors, carrying out the ministry of reconciliation. To the extent we fail to give the Lord our due diligence, we hinder His ministry, and we fail to "hasten the day" of His return, resulting in more people being consigned to Hades and Gehenna. Our rewards for being effective in the ministry results in us entering heaven abundantly, rather than as one escaping from a fire. False teachers hindered people seeking God according to Matthew 23:13.

My post provided Matthew 23:13, where false teachers prevented entry into the kingdom.

False teachers aren't Christians and 'the kingdom', here, isn't eternity in heaven.

Ultimately a person goes to hell due to their own sins against God. However, the Bible is clear that we ought to be preaching the Gospel to every creature so that anyone willing can get saved.

And if we don't? Preach the gospel? Folks will go to hell on account of our slacking?

Ezekiel 33:8-9 "When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul."

That should answer your question, friend.

Be aware, there's no one on this board that believes more strongly in 'the preaching of the gospel' than I do.

Okay, go and create strife and debate over a pointless thread.

Oh, in no way is it 'pointless'.

It strikes right at the heart of the matter with the whining anti-Sovereign Grace clique, "people are going to hell on account of the evil Calvinists" because they don't pray for the lost enough or witness enough or support missions enough or doing what we free willers do enough....etc.

    Thank you.

I don't have a dog in this fight. The thread that I started had nothing to do with being reformed or not.

    Here's what happened:
    • Three members were discussing how disgusted they were that a gay contestant was on Wheel of Fortune.
    • I got irritated as I never see any compassion on gay people for God to save them - only condemnation.
    • I said so and explained how I pray for lost people.
    • Someone chastised me for my post and for praying for these people and another member claimed we are not to pray for them as there are no scriptures teaching us to.
    • I started my own thread about praying for lost people.
SOMEHOW, without my direction - my thread was turned into an argument for/against being reformed.

    I left the thread.

I will still pray for lost people, invite them to church, teach my community Bible study, and more.

Whether a person accepts God's call and gift of grace is up to them.

I cannot face God in eternity and look him in the eye having not tried, not prayed, not taught the gospel, not counseled, and not doing whatever he called me to do. Ultimately, it's between them and God.

I cannot ignore the lost, which is originally what those two posters were telling me to do.

What any of this has to do with Calvinism - I do not know and do not care. 99.99% of the time, I do not get into those discussions.

The only person I see whining is you. The Bible teaches that sin is the cause of man's condemnation, but also commands us to go preach the gospel. Why not just be quiet and leave it at that? Rather, you start a dumb argument which profits no one except your ego.

Agreed. We're witnessing the sin of pride on display. I find myself actually pitying the poor soul.

SMH. You have the temerity to say this after hitting your laugh button on every post? Who should be pitied after all?

This is a silly thread. No one holds to the premise, so no one will take up the challenge. I might as well start a thread:

I CHALLENGE ANY REFORMED TO PROVE THAT PAUL SHOULD HAVE GONE TO ASIA INSTEAD OF MACEDONIA.

    or

I CHALLENGE ANY CALVINIST TO PROVE THAT THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND AND THE CHURCH OF PHILADELPHIA IN REVELATION 3 ARE ONE AND THE SAME.

No it isn't. It's at the very core of silly complaints against Monergists, and why you silly free willers think awful of Calvinism.

Folks are going to hell because of Calvinism, right?
