If you can make it through the ten points in this article, you are asking about genuine Baptist History.

These are TEN SCRIPTURAL PROOFS of The Continued Existance of The Churches that Jesus Founded and Divinly Organized, that have been on Earth since His Earthly Ministry and the first Baptist-believing church Organization in Jerusalem.

8.0.5b TEN SCRIPTURAL PROOFS of ‘The Churches that JESUS BUILT’ AND PROMISED TO BE WITH, “ALWAYS”.

I recommend my own blog, for as great a compilation of genuine Baptist "Church Truth" and genuine Baptist History, as I've seen.

8.0.1a The Recorded History of Baptists is an Historical Record of ‘The Churches that JESUS BUILT’ AND PROMISED TO BE WITH, “ALWAYS”.

I have, also, written extensively in the Baptist History forum.

Most every word has been ignored by the readership.

This is the best accurate and complete book on Baptist history is:

The Recorded History of Baptists is an Historical Record
of ‘The Churches that JESUS BUILT’
    AND PROMISED TO BE WITH,
    “ALWAYS”.

You can see Brother Hisle's outline, with links, to a WEALTH of BAPTIST HISTORY knowlegde, after I say,

    "
    Throughout Baptist History JESUS' churches,
    that have been called
    'Ana'-Baptists, or 'Re'-Baptizers*,
    and many other names,
    were NEVER Catholics or Protestants.
    ...

JESUS' churches, were generally called 'Ana'-Baptists,
    or 'Re'-Baptizers*,
because True Baptist's ONLY BAPTISE BELIEVERS.
    ...

An Individual that comes to Join a Baptist Assembly

may say that some other 'Religious' Organization

    'baptized' them,

    however:...

NO OTHER ORGANIZATION HAS A DIVINE ORIGIN
    and
    AUTHORITY of GOD, to BAPTISE.

    The candidate for membership
    MUST BE 'RE-BAPTISED',
as if they had never been 'baptized',
    by THE AUTHORITY of GOD,
    because they were not.
    ...

    WordPress.com

After Brother Hisle's book on Baptist History, there are dozens of links to Baptist History and Doctrines of "Church Truth:, from The Bible FEW HAVE EVER SEEN.

I would add Francis Wayland's The Principles and Practices of Baptist Churches. It is a snapshot of Northern Baptist life in the mid-1800s.

Brother Alan, thank you for your reply. I'm currently reading (just delivered yesterday) "Baptists in America" by Thomas S. Kidd and Barry Hankins. I plan to go over your reply again.

Leon McBeth, The Baptist Heritage: Four Centuries of Baptist Witness; a bit dated now, but probably the most complete single-volume work encompassing the 16th century onward. Most historians are now more likely to focus on a single aspect of Baptist history, not the whole enchilada. (The accompanying source book is also invaluable.)

Bruce T. Gourley, Witnesses to the Baptist Heritage: Thirty Baptists Every Christian Should Know; Crucible of Faith and Freedom: Baptists and the American Civil War; and others.

Walter B. Shurden, Not an Easy Journey: Some Transitions in Baptist Life; and others.

Nathan Finn (co-author) The Baptist Story: From English Sect to Global Movement; and many others.

Armitage, Benedict, Wayland and Vedder are useful for their accounts of contemporary Baptist life, but their origin stories have been supplanted by modern research. Newman is still an interesting read because of his extensive research into 16th and 17th left wing of the Reformation.
