Paul Maxwell, a former Desiring God writer and the author of the book The Trauma of Doctrine, has announced he is no longer a Christian.

“What I really miss is connection with people,” Maxwell said on his Instagram feed. “What I’ve discovered is that I’m ready to connect again. And I’m kind of ready not to be angry anymore. I love you guys and I love all the friendships and support I’ve built here. And I think it’s important to say that I’m just not a Christian anymore, and it feels really good. I’m really happy.”

    Paul Maxwell, 2018:

"[As a] conservative guy, I'm concerned about intersectionality....It creates arbitrary social hierarchies based on race ethnicity and sex"

"intersectionality politics is a way of construing an hierarchy of moral obligation within the American populace in which certain social groups are granted statuses of entitlement or debt based on the number and kind of traumas that they have experienced"

"the people who are most electrified by this idea of intersectionality and those who have shaped it are young white social justice oriented progressives....after you're presented with all the data and you still refuse to become a Leftist they have a word for your condition...white fragility"

    Paul Maxwell:

"When I wrote for Desiring God and The Gospel Coalition....my articles did exceptionally well in terms of readership....I gained an enormous audience of readers who just followed me through email and social media and things like that. And through interacting with this audience I discovered that about 80% of them were female....I was single at the time so I think the fact that many of these readers saw me as a possible romantic interest also played a part."

"Evangelical publishing platforms have neutered their own content....Even if they affirm in principle the complementarian biblical manhood thing, honestly I don't find any of those guys credible....Evangelical culture has in large part become a culture tailor-made for beta males."

    LOL, Dont be surprised!
This guy departed the faith, maybe hopefully he will repent of that, but watching the last video shows he had no root in Christ, in the scripture, he even said he was hitting on emotional levels, not spiritual ones.

    Mark 4:5-7
    New King James Version

5 Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth.
6 But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away.
7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.

    Matthew 13:20-22
    New King James Version

    20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

    1 John 2
    Do Not Love the World
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

    Deceptions of the Last Hour
18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you.
27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

A reoccurring event is some well known professing Christian falls from exultation. They go out from us because they were not "of us." That is to say, not actually born anew. A tare. Some peddle God's word for money.

    Four questions:
What was essential that was never believed? Why?
What was believed that came to be understood not to be true? Why?

    Paul Maxwell's Reformed community

"At Westminster Theological Seminary...faculty behind closed doors would refer to times when they colluded to get other faculty fired....Students would get together at pubs and talk about how all the other seminaries were...too soft, not insightful enough, not consistent enough, not vigilant enough."

"Westminster, it felt like home....My hypervigilant pursuit of truth was rewarded. My 'black and white' conception of the world was applauded. Everyone was put in categories of 'in' and 'out'....It was political to the core. And the political players at Westminster were looking for soldiers to fight in their war. Against whom? Everyone else."

"I was...trained for 4 years to think of everyone else as stupid. Everyone else’s view on counseling was unbiblical, but we had God’s view. Everyone else’s view on God’s will was unbiblical, but we had God’s view. Everyone else’s view on evil and salvation was illogical...we had the most consistent view."

"Westminster chews people up and spits them out....I know of no other seminary with such a trail of bodies, with most of its alumni emotionally damaged from their experience there, still acting out their warrior impulses which they learned — still fighting, still poisoned by their weaponized theological skeletons."

"I have no doubt become addicted to Reformed evangelicalism....I still have that killer instinct." — Paul Maxwell, 2017

Another point is that if you listen to his "emotional video" he uses the term "I" constantly. He is the center of his viewpoint.

Let me add to our list of unknowns, why did He leave Christianity rather than leave Reformed Theology?

Disappointment with self-centered goals can lead to blaming God. Placing your eyes on the corrupt sinner who is Redeemed by Christ, but still morally flawed can lead to blaming God.
This person makes me sad, because he represents every Christian whose eyes have left Jesus and instead see the waves and feel the wind of the storm. Our brother is sinking and we act as though we have a theological answer that will explain his sinking when the truth is we must pray that Jesus will grab him and pick him up, then admonish him to keep his eyes on the Savior. Will you all covenant to pray for the brother who is sinking in despair and flaying out in desperation? Throw him a life preserver. Show him Christ once again.

John 6 is really good at explaining these things, that Jesus has the words of Eternal Life, that Jesus is who He says He is, and why some do not believe.

35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe.

37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Paul Maxwell is a Ph.D. student at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and philosophy professor at Moody Bible Institute

This guy must have been "Reformed" to write for John Piper, the 7 point Calvinist. He would have been counted as one of the "elect", and now he says that he no longer the believes the Bible or Its Gospel?

What becomes of "Reformed" teaching on Predestination to life?

This reminds me of another sad case of a "Reformed" pastor here in the UK, who came out as homosexual some 20 years ago, and is a proponent of their cause, Roy Clements - Wikipedia

Do these cases, and others, show that the P in Tulip is also not Biblical?

Meaning females, who comprise 80% of his 'following.' I wouldn't be surprised if a little later we hear that he thinks he's gay.

If he was really born again, he might "leave" Jesus, but Jesus will never leave him!
