    Not with most people, no.
    I agree.
But who determines the correct meaning?

Egad. Mark 16:16, Jesus plainly states, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved".

You've a problem with this only because of your distorted take of 'sozo'. I've no problem at all because I know Christ's primary intent is not 'saved from eternity in hell', it's 'saved from the wrath to come upon this generation'. Water baptism was a public profession of faith for the Jews of that generation which was essential for them to 'save themselves' from the wrath of Matthew 23:35-36, Luke 21:20-32, etc...

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said unto them, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Mt 3

38 And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him.
40 And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, save yourselves from this crooked generation. Acts 2

A long rant. Which does not prove the New Testament teaches the necessity of baptism in order to go to Heaven.

The New Testament does not teach the necessity of baptism in order to go to Heaven. You do, by gomming up the word sozo. And I suppose you're too dense to see it.

    I'm done.

False accusation. Since I believe no such thing. Yes we are done here.

Being saved is like understanding 1 + 1 = 2. Once you know something like this you can never not know it. Because when one is saved they know God Himself, Romans 8:16. Titus 1:2, 1 John 5:9-12.

Matthew 7:21-23, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

“Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” John 6:28–29 (KJV 1900)
