What denominations, other than Baptist, are represented on this forum? I know there are a few Roman Catholics. Just curious

Welcome! Thanks for replying. I'm "officially" Eastern Orthodox but have actually left that church and looking for another.

You're more than welcome to check out the Catholic Church. There are a lot of similarities between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.

I am Baptist. Member of SBC church. Attend an IFB church.
But, I did graduate from a Charismatic Bible college and Seminary.

For me, it was because Baptist’s are so welcoming, tolerant and accepting, like the Mennonite sites.

Catholic sites can be echo chambers, where you hear the same views. I like to hear a diversity of views, learn a lot that way.

Years ago. My when my Baptist church was in the midst of the Calvinism wars at the start of the Young Restless and Reformed stuff I had a chance to have lunch with a hospital Chaplin where I worked. Since he was a Presbyterian I was questioning him on Calvinism since it was all new to me. He listened, then said "You know I envy you people. I wish I could get my congregation worked up over something, anything!" I just said "We're Baptists. We're always riled up over something". Your post reminded me of that. By the way, Cathode, I appreciate your input that I've seen on here, even though we seldom agree.

Well we have our fun, and have fun made of us in turn. Baptist’s have been good, especially with us outside the clinics, it’s been great having them there.

I appreciate your posts as well Dave, look forward to many future discussions on different things.

Thanks, but I rejected the RCC long ago. I don't find the soteriology of EOC and RCC to be similar.

I could not reject the Catholic Church. Where could I go to get nourished by the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus in the Eucharist? I know that the Orthodox shares the same belief.

As I have stated, I just stumbled on here and I thought that it might be a good place for fellowship among people who believe that Jesus is Lord and Savior.

Yes. I will just take what comes and explain why I believe the way that I do.

The Apostolic succession and authority. It is my baptist view that this is solely the New Testament (27) documents. Though this may not be the sole view among all who are Baptists regarding succession. Typical of all Baptists the 66 book Bible is the sole authority in all matters of faith and practice.

We have the same 27 Books in our Bible. We do view the Bible as the infallible/inerrant written word of God. We just do not believe that it is the sole authority in matters of faith and practice.

    Yes, that is understood.
Most, if not all groups, which claim to be Christian, have those 66 books too, such as Mormonism with their added books. A key difference being Catholics are accepted here as fellow Christians, Mormons would not be.

The Orthodox don't quite share the same belief, preferring to maintain the Eucharist as "Mystery" rather than seek to define it rationally, as those in the West do -- whether RC or Protestant.
