When ever there is an alternate textual reading there are a minimum of three possiblities. One or the other reading is original or neither are original.

On a very important text on the Person of Jesus Christ, the NKJV departs from the Textus Receptus, and the greater majority of the textual evidence

"και αποκριθεις ο αγγελος ειπεν αυτη πνευμα αγιον επελευσεται επι σε και δυναμις υψιστου επισκιασει σοι διο και το γεννωμενον εκ σου αγιον κληθησεται υιος θεου" (Luke 1:35) Textus Receptus (Beza 1598)

"And the Angel answered, and said vnto her, The holy Ghost shall come vpon thee, and the power of the most High shall ouershadowe thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall bee borne of thee, shall be called the Sonne of God" Geneva Bible 1599

"And the aungel answeride, and seide to hir, The Hooly Goost schal come fro aboue in to thee, and the vertu of the Hiyeste schal ouerschadewe thee; and therfor that hooli thing that schal be borun of thee, schal be clepid the sone of God" (Wycliffe 1382)

"And the Angel answered and said vnto her, The holy Ghost shall come vpon thee, and the power of the Highest shall ouershadow thee. Therefore also that holy thing which shall bee borne of thee, shall bee called the sonne of God" (KJV 1611)

"και αποκριθεις ο αγγελος ειπεν αυτη πνευμα αγιον επελευσεται επι σε και δυναμις υψιστου επισκιασει σοι διο και το γεννωμενον εκ σου αγιον κληθησεται υιος θεου" Textus Receptus (Scrivener 1894)

"And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God" NKJV

The two words "εκ σου" have been removed in the NKJV, which Teaches of the true "human nature" of Jesus Christ being actually derived (εκ) from the Virgin Mary, making Jesus Christ Consubstantial with us, in His "human nature", apart from sin. The singular "σου" shows that Joseph was not the biological father of Jesus Christ.

The words "of the" are mising from the Greek. In fact they are missing from most Texus Receptus Bibles and most reformation Bibles. The extra words are from the Latin Vulgate not the Greek.

    Bishops Bible 1568
And the Angel aunswered, & saide vnto her: The holy ghost shall come vpon thee, & the power of the hyest shall ouershadowe thee. Therefore also that holy thyng whiche shalbe borne, shalbe called the sonne of God.

    The Great Bible 1539
And the angell answered, & sayde vnto her. The holy goost shall come vpon the, and the power of the hyest shall ouer shaddowe the. Therfore also that holy thynge which shalbe borne, shalbe called the sonne of God.

    Matthew's Bible 1537
And the aungell aunswered and sayd vnto her: The holye ghoste shall come vnto the, and the power of the hyest shall ouer shadowe the. Therfore also that holye thynge whiche shall be borne shalbe called the sonne of God.

    Tyndale Bible 1534
And the angell answered and sayd vnto her: The holy goost shall come apon the and the power of the hyest shall over shaddowe te. Therfore also that holy thinge which shalbe borne shalbe called the sonne of god.

Even the Coverdale has the words inserted from the Latin Vulgate by showing the symbols (of the) surrounded the non original words. Coverdale took the words out when he translated from the Original Greek in The Great Bible instead of the Latin of his 1535 edition.

    Coverdale Bible 1535
The angell answered, & sayde vnto her: The holy goost shal come vpon the, & the power of the Hyest shal ouershadowe the. Therfore that Holy also which shalbe borne (of the) shalbe called the sonne of God.

Notice the words missing from The very edition of where the Textus Receptus got its name.

    Textus Receptus (Elzevir 1624)

    Textus Receptus (Stephanus 1550)

    Byzantine Majority Text 2000

    Byzantine Majority Text (Family 35)

All of the above is taken from the Textus Receptus Bibles website.

    And many others.

    Augustine

“The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

"Christ is unlike a man born in ordinary generation, for He was born of a virgin; and yet He is like, for He too was born
of a woman, to whom it was said, "That holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."

“the Holy Ghost shall come over on to thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee, that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

    Jerome Latin Vulgate

“How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?” on which the angel said to her, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee. Wherefore that holy Thing which shall be born of Thee shall be called the Son of God.”

"The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee. Wherefore that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

    Ambrose

"The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee, and that Holy Thing Which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God,”

    The Diatessaron of Tatian (150)

"Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be to me when no man hath known me? The angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit will come, and the power of the Most High shall rest upon thee, and therefore shall he that is born of thee be pure, and shall be called the Son of God"

The reading with "εκ σου" dates to the first century, in the Greek, which is much older than any Greek manuscript!

Excellent quotations. Latin Authors. Thats where the non Greek words came from.

It is not right to claim it is in the Greek when there is no evidence. You do not have Tatians harmony in Greek. All you have quoted is from an Arabic harmony probably from an Armenian source or Syraic 1000 years removed from Tatian. BB has a right to know those details.

that is not the point here. Like in Matthew 1:16, where "Μαρίας ἐξ ἧς ἐγεννήθη", is "Mary OUT OF WHOM was begotten", showing that even though Jospeh is mentioned in this verse, the feminine singular, ἐξ ἧς, excludes him from being the biological father of Jesus Christ. Extremenly important for correct theology.

The NKJV omits "of you" in error because the TR Greek text used omits it. And the M, NU footnote that omit the text is also missing at Luke 1:35. It is one of the unfixed NKJV mistakes.

I can vaguely remember being told in the 1980's by someone who did not like the NKJV, that the original NKJV read in Galatians "seeds" instead of "seed", either 3:16 or 29, which of course is Jesus Christ. Has anyone seen this?

I have both editions. I will look at that when I get home. Also the Genesis reference needs to be looked at. Descendants for seed being used.

Strength: Uses the best manuscripts, i.e. the textus receptus.
    Weaknesses: is not the KJB.

For a comparison of verses between both, see:
