It is the calvinist theology that you are clinging to that causes the problem.
Sorry, but I came to the theology before I came to Calvinism. One day I was building bombs, and the next day (literally) I was a Christian … and the event that happened in the middle was a variation of the “road to Damascus” where God made me an offer that I could not refuse. So I did not CHOOSE Calvinism … the monergistic reality that God saves whom He pleases without stopping to ask our permission CHOSE me.

Did God ask Abram if he was willing to follow God? No, God simply informed Abram of God’s choice. Same with Moses. Same with David. Same with Paul. Same with me.

To deny that, is to deny both reality and scripture. I cannot deny my own empirical experience. That my experience has been given a name by Theologians that lived before me (Doctrines of Grace, Particular Baptist, Reformed, Calvinist) changes nothing; it just makes it easier to describe.

… says what verse?

Says the bible. Do you calvinists not see that in the bible, are you blind or just unwilling to see it? God calls us to trust in His son.

1Ti_1:15; Luk_5:32; 2Co_5:14; 2Co_5:19; 1Jn_2:2; 1Ti_2:3-4; 1Ti_2:6; 1Ti_4:10 Christ Jesus came to save those that were lost/sinners. If you fit into that group then He came to save you.

Rom_3:21-22; Rom_3:25; Rom_3:30; Gal_2:16; Gal_3:26; Eph_3:12; 2Ti_3:15 Through faith in Christ Jesus

Joh_3:14-18; Joh_3:36; Act_10:43; Rom_4:5; Rom_10:14; Eph_1:13; Eph_3:12 They have to believe, come into the light by faith

Take of your calvinist glasses and just trust scripture. Your silly word games may make you feel superior but they just show the child in you.

I don't have to read anything into it. I just have to follow Paul's argument through Romans. In Romans 3 Paul is in your face, telling you no one seeks God.
Silverhair, it is you who is being dishonest with scripture. When you do that you end up falling on your Calvinist boogeyman as the crutch you use to not change your error in thinking. Literally no one has brought up Calvin...except you.

Actually if you would just read the context from where Paul got those verses you might learn something.

1Ti_1:15

[1 Ti 1:15 NASB95] 15 It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost [of all.]

1 Timothy 1:15 does not come close to saying “but the person still has to come to the light on their own”.

Are you ashamed of the bible? You do not seem to trust in what the bible says. You are so invested in your calvinism that you refuse to trust scripture that is presented to you.

I will pray for you but since you want to discount scripture I have nothing more to say to you.

Amazing it seems the only thing that is over the line on BB is when someone points out the errors of calvinsm.

You post scripture that does not say what you claim the Bible says.

YOU SAID: “but the person still has to come to the light on their own.

THE BIBLE SAYS: “It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost [of all.]”

The Bible did not say what you told me it said. I am not ashamed of the Bible. I do trust what the Bible says. I am still waiting for the scripture that teaches what YOU CLAIM the Bible says.

If you have the Scripture, then present it.
If you do not have the scripture, then stop making claims about what the Bible says that you cannot back up.

YOU ARE NOT BEING HONEST ABOUT WHAT SCRIPTURE SAYS.
