Since the thread is going to be closed later tonight, I want to thank all who participated.

I hope each and every one of you were edified and encouraged to think about the positions and beliefs that we hold.

May our Lord Jesus be glorified in everything we do and say.

    peace to you

So your telling us that if God does not via direct intervention cause a person to repent and believe they can not do so? Your words "it takes divine intervention that will allow such a hell-deserving character to even repent and believe the Gospel"

If that is the position you want to hold to then you have just made God responsible for everyone that is in hell. They had no choice but to be there. It was not their sin but rather that God that did not intervene in their lives. He could have but chose not to do so. That is a terrible God dishonoring theology.

Joh 3:18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

For the calvinist this verse has to read
Joh 3:18 "He {that God causes to} believe in Him are not condemned; but he who {are} not {made to} believe are condemned already, because {God} has not {allowed them to} believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

To Silverhair-Romans 1:20 is not speaking concerning a people who had never heard the gospel but to the Jews who by their old covenant stand suppressed/held down the truth of the new covenant. You need to read the whole chapter and not just one verse.

I know what that book is about. But since calvinists love to use single verse to put froth their theology I thought this would get the idea across. What you miss is that those verses also speak to all of us. Or do you think that all Christ Jesus said was only meant for the Jews since He was talking to them and He came to save them.

You can not be selective in how you apply the text of the bible. I have been studying the bible for many years and if you only believe verses that you think support your view then it is not the bible you are trusting in but yourself.

I already answered that. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: Hebrews 4:2

We do. He told us it pleased Him to save those who believe by the foolishness of preaching.

Do you not believe He told us the truth?

And there's the crux of the issue. You're trying to lay a foundation other than what has already been laid, and it's because you think you have a bigger view of God.

We trust a God who cannot lie. Yours apparently does, and you call it sovereignty.

Hmm. One thing I know, you are forbidden to imagine or to allow for anything else.
