Oh, yes there are. California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York (especially New York City), New Jersey, Washington, DC. That doesn't include cities with restrictive laws.

I'd rather copy Jesus and drive the wicked intruders out of my house, as He drove the thieves out of His Father's house.

There are a few stories such as that. I'm sure you could find them with a little study. However, how the Lord usually helped ended up in the use of physical weapons to destroy the enemies of the people of God.

    1. I already quoted Psalm 144:1, when the Lord taught David to fight physically. You did not answer that.
    2. God gave the battle plan for the Second Battle of Ai, and helped His people who trusted Him.
    3. Jonathan and his armorbearer prayed for God's guidance and help, then went up and killed a bunch of Philistines with the sword (1 Samuel 14).
    4. David prayed for help against the Philistines, and God gave the battle plan: flank the enemy while I move in the mulberry trees (2 Samuel 5:22-25).
    5. Etc., etc. I could take the time to give many more examples.

    I love #4:
22 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
23 And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
24 And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
25 And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.

If I were in a similar situation, with violent enemies entering my house to kill me and rape my wife, I would pray for the Lord's help as I used my sword to defend us.

the Old Testament is not much of a guide on this, as most of the Kings were men of war, which is why God told David that he would not build the Temple, too much bloodshed in his time.

I see nothing in the Church Age in the NT, which is post Gospels?

If your argument is that violence is always immoral (I'm not sure that is what you are saying), then the fact that God helped His people to commit violence says that (according to the violence is immoral view) God is then immoral.

Other than that, I'm not sure what the foundation of your argument is.
    1. Is violence always immoral?
    2. Does the Scripture teach that we are not to defend ourselves ever?
    3. Is the God-directed violence of the OT somehow opposed in the NT?

You are ignoring the NT Scriptures which I have already given. See #22.

Those are the statements or opinions of men. Those very same men likely made other statements that you would disagree with or even reject.

    Greetings,

This is a good subject to put forward. I was raised in a family that had various types of guns for hunting purposes. Matter of fact my father gave me a 16 Gage shotgun for my 16th birthday, I used it once, blew the face off of a rabbit, and desired to have nothing to do with them after that, at the disgust of my father......he thought me not man enough so I was an embarrassment to him and his friends. However my younger brother made it up for both of us.......and my father could care less if he did nor not....for I was the "first" born...

However, I can see the need for men/women to have guns for their protection and their families, especially in the times in which we live. And the US Constitution gives ALL the Legal authority to have them for that purpose.

Now as for believer's to carry them, I found no leading of the sort in the Lord's Word in the New Testament to support ME to carry one, and I also think that it should be for all disciples of Christ not to carry a weapon for protection.....He is our Protector from evil, unless He has allowed us to suffer for His Name sake, or to teach us forgiveness if we be robbed, or beaten by man for the sake of it......

Mat_5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Luk 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Luk 6:28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
Luk 6:29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

    The Lord bless you.....
    In His Love....

I do. Both English and Irish Reynolds. The first royal governor of Ga was my ancestor. The vast majority of Reynolds fought against the crown when that time came.

John, what you quout from the NO in #22, has nothing to do with Christians using firearms! You are forcing the meanings of both passages, to "support" your ideology. Nice try, but misapplication

You missed the point. I was not writing in that post about firearms per se, but about the God given right to self defense. I believe I proved that pretty handily. If not, then show me where I'm wrong, don't just say "You're wrong." Why do not those passages prove a right to self defense?

As to what the weapon of self defense is, that depends on the situation. My weapon of choice is either my hands and feet (I hold black belts in various martial arts) or an actual sharp sword. Your thread is basically about guns, but why single them out? What is different about guns from other weapons of self defense?
