The "voice of the LORD" (Jehovah) is in the scriptures a total of 50 times in 48 verses. It appears in the psalms 9 times, but 8 of those times the phrase is in Psa 29. The first mention of this phrase will make us understand that it genders fear and dread when transgressors hear it after they have sinned. Here is the first mention.
Ge 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
The voice of the LORD will teach us that God is not presenting the idea of his sovereignty, but justice with this phrase. It presents God as a reactionary and our response to him governs those actions as it relates to his person as God.Here is something to ponder.
Here is the will of God stated.
De 27:10 Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
De 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
De 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
De 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
De 28:45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
De 28:62 And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.
This chapter 30 is in the same time frame as Psalm 29 when the LORD gives the Spirit to those of Israel who receive him. This is the reason they are few in number after the return of Christ when he calls all the earth to judgment by the voice of the LORD but he is ruling over those who have him in their hearts and all the rest will hide from his voice and be destroyed. No wonder the cows will give birth prematurely. This will be a fearful time.
De 30:8 And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his
commandments which I command thee this day.
De 30:10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
God does not make anyone get saved but he does what he can to save people. Look.
15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
