    I've seen this type of thing before. Somebody once compared Jesus to a physician.

    In the very example he cites, Jesus asks, "Do you want to get well?"

    Yep.

    Jesus compared Himself to a doctor here to heal the sick.

    In Isaiah we read that His stripes we are healed.

    Sometimes people's theology in condemning other Christians doesn't fit exactly with Scripture. I've learned that the hard way, so I'm more hesitant to condemn the servants of Another than when I was a younger fella.

    The sign is actually based on Scripture. Like a doctor, Jesus came to heal the sick. And He shared in our sickness (Isaiah 53).

    The standard is perfect righteousness, not merely meaning well. Generally speaking, those who call themselves Christians have WAY too high of an opinion of themselves and WAY too low of an opinion of God and His holiness and justice and of their need for a perfect righteousness in order to be saved. They tend to think if they just do "enough" that it will suffice, and do not understand that they can never do "enough" to be saved, and that Christ ALONE met all of the conditions for the salvation of God's elect.

    How did you get that from the sign?

    I ask because the sign seems to say what Christ said about the sick being the ones in need of a physician.

    *Luke 4:23*
    And he said to them, “Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb,Physician, heal yourself.What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.

    Yep, they called Him physician instead of LORD.

    They thought they were the rulers of their own lives.

    Perhaps they used those words against Him because He had used those words of Himself.

    Those were Jews. They were aware of "sin" being referred to as a "sickness". They were aware of the passage "by His stripes we are healed". And they were aware of Christ referring to Himself Is a Physician coming to heal the sick because the illustration was against them (they felt they were well).

    The question is why people condemn other Christians for using an illustration in much the same way Christ used the illustration.

    If you were there, would you have corrected Christ?

    Would you have condemned Him for calling the people "sick" in need of a physician instead of "dead"?

    Did Christ create the quote on that sign?
    "Jesus is a master mechanic. Let him fix your life."

    Show us that verse please.

    In a sense, yes.

    A "mechanic" that repairs people is known as a "physician".

    Jesus compared Himself to a physician that has come to heal the sick.

    If we condemn other Christians for using the same principle on a sign to reach out to their community then we violate God's command. If we break one law then we are guilty of breaking them all because we transgress God's command.

    That is called "sin". Not all sins are the same (stealing a cookie is not the same as robbing a bank). But all sins are transgressions against God.

    This is what Christ came to "fix". We are to fulfill the royal law.

    You mean you brethren never sang The Great Physician?... Brother Glen:)

    1 The great Physician now is near,
    the sympathizing Jesus;
    He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
    oh! hear the voice of Jesus.

    Refrain:
    Sweetest note in seraph song,
    sweetest name on mortal tongue;
    sweetest carol ever sung,
    Jesus, blessed Jesus.

    2 Your many sins are all forgiven,
    oh! hear the voice of Jesus;
    go on your way in peace to heaven,
    and wear a crown with Jesus. [Refrain]

    3 All glory to the risen Lamb!
    I now believe in Jesus;
    I love the blessed Savior's name,
    I love the name of Jesus. [Refrain]

    4 His name dispels my guilt and fear,
    no other name but Jesus;
    oh! how my soul delights to hear
    the charming name of Jesus. [Refrain]

    How so? Christ compared Himself to a doctor here to heal the sick. The sign compared Christ to a mechanic here to fix us.

    It is the same comparison except the sign kinda minimizes man by comparing us to a machine.

    I haven't.

    But my point is that I have no problem with the comparison of Christ to a physician here to heal us (or a mechanic here to fix us) as it's the same principle.

    Matthew 9:10-13

    While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

    On hearing this, Jesus said, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

    Mark 2:15-17

    While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

    On hearing this, Jesus said to them, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

    Luke 5:29-31

    Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

    Jesus answered them, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
