1 John 5:9-13, ". . . If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. . . ."

Romans 1:16, ". . . the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; . . ."

1 Corinthians 15:1-4, ". . . the gospel . . . that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: . . . "

1 John 5:1, ". . . Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: . . ."

How one is yet to know anything more.

Hebrews 11:6, ". . . But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe . . . ."

It really is to bad that you continue to deny clear scripture and instead hold to your errant theology.

Gal 3:22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.
Gal 3:24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Gal 3:25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Rom 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Rom 10:13 For "WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED."

Joh 3:15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I agree God does not need anything from us but He does require something from us, Faith in His son. The Holy Spirit has made that clear in scripture but you deny scripture and rather cling to your errant philosophy that comes from pagan roots. I have pointed out the source of your error many times and even challenged you to check it out for yourself which it seems you have failed to do or are just ignoring the truth.

You put the cart before the horse. I started a new thread in the C&A forum showing your contradiction that you insert into God's word which denies grace and inserts the law as your method of salvation.

Come on Austin why do you continue to deny scripture?

Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Eph 2:9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

When is one made alive together with Christ? Before or after they have trust in, place their faith in Christ Jesus?

The Holy Spirit has made it clear:
Act 16:31 So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Gal 3:14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

So you just put your blinders on and continue to deny scripture. You have chosen to elevate Augustine and Calvin etc. over the Holy Spirit.

Such a shame, a thread that could have provided an opportunity to discuss "How to be saved" based on biblical doctrine has been derailed by the usual suspects pushing their unbiblical doctrine.

    How to be saved:

    1) Recognize your need for salvation from the eternal punishment of God. The dupes of Satan will say you are unable to recognize you are a wretched sinner, heading for Hades and Gehenna. Just as the wicked say, "there is no God" they also say, "there is no Hades and Gehenna."

    2) Once you recognize your condition, a sinner heading for eternal punishment, you need to recognize you are unable by your own actions to alter that awful outcome. The dupes of Satan will say if you are good enough, God will be compelled to save you.

    3) At this point, you need to take the action of the people described in John 6:28-29.

    John 6:28-29 NET
So then they said to him, "What must we do to accomplish the deeds God requires?" Jesus replied, "This is the deed God requires - to believe in the one whom he sent."

    4) God sent our Lord and Savior, Jesus as His "Lamb of God."

    5) In order to be our Lord (Boss) we need to be committed to keeping His commands and serving Him with our lives.

    6) In order to be our Savior, we need to believe that He died to provide the means of our salvation, and that He arose from the dead demonstrating He is the Son of God, and to fully rely upon Christ for our salvation, which is us "calling on His name."

    Redundant and superfluous.

Silverhair and I know what Christ did for us (IMO) much better than you do.

Calvin jeans is not the problem here. So what comes first, conversion or regeneration?

Why…because that isn’t how I have seen it. Please allow me to explain. Conversion is a change in belief or the course of one's life. Regeneration is a change in one's nature. The means of conversion is primarily the Gospel. The means of regeneration is solely the work of God's Spirit and because of the distinct nature of the two, regeneration must come first. They may be experienced simultaneously, but even then the cause or means of each remains distinct as indicated above. Regeneration makes children of God; conversion causes children of God to become Christians. Regeneration brings people into a saving relationship with God; conversion then brings them into a serving relationship to Him.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 clearly states we were chosen for salvation through faith in the truth, thus we trusted in Christ before we were chosen for salvation. Full Stop

You have no clue what Christ did for you. If you did, you would acknowledge His full Sovereignty over every aspect of your life.
God tells you in His Word and you refuse to acknowledge it.
Whatever emotion you have can be used to deceive you. God's word takes precedence over your feelings.

What Bible did you get that from Van?... Trusted in Christ was added by you... The beginning of God's plan not the beginning of your belief... Brother Glen:)

2 Thessalonians 2: 13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

Let me address the title of this thread, which is: "How to be Saved."

The title alone tells us that the OP has a presupposition that a human can perform a certain set of actions that will result in that person's salvation. The entire proposition is therefore graceless. Instead, it is a proposition of salvation by following the law of merited salvation. It places the responsibility squarely upon the human and it makes God a secondary, reactionary, character in salvation.

There is no "how to be" in salvation. There is only "How it is that God saved you " What did God do in you and for you so that the result was your faithful belief in the shed blood of Jesus for the remission of your sins? Why is it that you responded in faith while the person right next to you responded in defiance? Who was it that caused you to respond in belief while your neighbor remained in unbelief?

Where did you get that from? The verse does not say, "the beginning of God's plan!"
What beginning is in view, creation or the inauguration of the New Covenant? The beginning of the new Covenant.
Thus 2 Thessaloni9ans says God has chosen individuals from the start of the New Covenant through setting them apart in Christ by the Holy Spirit's action based on God crediting the individuals credited faith in the truth. This is a really simply concept.

    A person isn’t saved before he’s saved.

And he isn’t saved a second time, after first being saved.

    The witness of Scripture is
    1. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and arose three days later.
    2. Those who believe will be saved, those who do not, remain lost.

    It’s easy to understand.
