As a young man, I was confronted with a mounting drug culture… and had I said yes to it, I would have assuredly succumbed to these drugs robbing me of my will to live a clean life. So I said NO to it, even though most of my friends did succored, either spending time in jail, or becoming addicted thus either crashing careers, destroying families and/or loosing their lives as a result.

I view homosexuality and the gay lifestyle as another evil Trapp that kills both the body & soul thereby destroying lives in the long run.

Funny I recently had a discussion with my brother about his daughter who ran away and re-appeared as a lesbian transgender. This is driving my brother nuts, she doesn’t want him interfering with her/his life … only though if she needs a car, or money for glasses, food, to pay rent etc. then she is all sweetness. The hypocrisy is palatable. But what can he do, that’s his daughter and with all her flaws, arrogance, disrespectful behavior he still loves her. Would he sanction going to a gay wedding yada yada, well he is a serious Christian and that would sanction a sin lifestyle, one that would require him to turn his back from the Lord. So a big NO would be his answer.

Sadly Begg has refused to recant on his very unwise and unbiblical advice that he gave

Indeed. My point is that Jesus Christ died for the entire human race, which includes homos trans, etc etc

    1 Corinthians 6:9-11.

Note v. 11, “And such WERE some of you…”

We all want to be kind and compassionate to the lost.

Accepting their sinful lifestyle is not the way to do that.

Add Justin Peters to the list of petty pastors. I literally don't get why the conservative Christian community is up in arms about this. Begg still thinks it's a sin. Nothing has changed. It's petty. Begg is willing to identify opportunities to build bridges with people he disagrees with. Isn't that a good thing? Piper and Peters are not. They're being petty. We live in a world where there are all kinds of different people.
There are also liberal Christians who have no problems with gay weddings whatsoever. Alistair Begg is still a conservative Christian. Nothing has changed. What do you want from the man? It seems to me that he's willing to do God's work in an imperfect and fallen world.

Sister, if you believe that concern for the lost is "petty' - you are dead wrong.

My gay friend was "raised" in church and I thought he was a Christian. I don't know if he was ever truly saved or not. I want to ask him so badly.

His "husband" was NOT raised in church, they don't go to church now, and I am burdened terribly for them both,

My not attending their wedding was NOT, NOT, NOT petty. As I said before, I was not invited.

You talk about "building relationships". Jesus did that very thing with all kinds of sinners. As I said before - Jesus ministered/witnessed to the prostitutes, but did not go to the brothel to do so.

Jesus ministered/witnessed to the cruel and cheating tax collectors, but he did not go to work with them to do so.

Jesus publicly and on the cross invited the thief to be with him in paradise, but he did not go robbing people to make that offer to him.

Your calling people who love homosexual people, but would not attend the wedding "petty" is dead wrong.

How would you feel if dearly loved family members of yours chose/choose to randomly hold some sin over your head when you and your husband got/get married?

Don't you think it's a petty way to act? I don't think it's right to single people out for exclusion. Connection is key as Biblically illustrated by Jesus' ministry. We all have sins. It's not our job to hold them over each other's heads.

If you're going to choose to take the Bible literally and conservatively interpret it, then I think Alistair Begg is going about it the right way.
