Being "spiritually dead" does not result in total spiritual INABILITY. That man-made tradition is not scriptural.
"Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
Atpollard did well to show Luke 13:24 IN CONTEXT. Yet it says MANY, I will say to you will seek to enter & will not be able to enter because the door was shut. But that meant that SOME who did seek to enter along with the many, were able to go in before the door was shut.
Luke 18:35-43 And it came to pass, that as He was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: & hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood & commanded him to be brought unto Him & when he was come near, He asked him, saying, What WILT THOU that I shall do UNTO THEE? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: THY FAITH HAS SAVED THEE. And immediately he received his sight & FOLLOWED HIM, glorifying God & all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
Luke 7:40-50 Then He turned to the woman & said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet,
but she has washed My feet with her tears & wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss,
but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you,
her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”
Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” Then He said to the woman, “
YOUR FAITH has saved you. Go in peace.”
Rom 10:6-12 But
the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down
from above)
7or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
8But what does it say? “
The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
9that
IF YOU CONFESS with your mouth the Lord Jesus &
BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART that God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.
10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness & with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11For the Scripture says, “
Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is
no distinction between Jew & Greek, for the same Lord
OVER ALL is rich
to all who call upon Him. For “
whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Acts 17:26-32 He made
from one man EVERY NATION of mankind to live on ALL THE FACE OF THE EARTH, having determined
their appointed times & the boundaries of their habitation, SO THAT THEY WOULD SEEK GOD, IF PERHAPS they might FEEL AROUND FOR HIM & FIND HIM
, though
He is not far from EACH ONE OF US...“God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but
NOW HE COMMANDS EVERYONE EVERYWHERE to repent of their sins & turn to Him.
Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek the LORD while He may be found;
call on Him WHILE HE IS NEAR. Let the wicked man
FORSAKE HIS WAY & the UNRIGHTEOUS MAN HIS THOUGHTS; LET HIM RETURN to the LORD,
so that He may have compassion & to our God, for He will freely pardon.
Jesus repeatedly told people that it was THEIR faith that was the means of their being saved or healed by Him. God saves us by His unmerited grace but He doesn't believe FOR us, we are the ones who believe. He may grant us repentance leading to the acknowledging of the truth, but we are the ones acknowledging the truth; otherwise we are simply a robot, without a choice. Again, we believe with our heart & we confess with our mouth & so are justified & saved. God does not do the believing for us nor does He confess for us.
Phil 2:12,13 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence,
(you) work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13for
it is God who works in you both to will & to do for His good pleasure.
1 Tim 6:12
(YOU) fight the good fight of the faith.
(YOU) take hold of the eternal life to which you were
called WHEN YOU MADE THE GOOD CONFESSION before many witnesses.
Again, we believe with our heart & we confess with our mouth & so are justified & saved.
God does not do the believing for us nor does He confess for us. But He is the one who saves us by His grace--& His kindness & patience leads us to repenting from a godly sorrow, a sorrow according to the will of God & then we are able to have the knowledge of the truth & are able to acknowlege that truth & be saved.
'Freely have we received, freely give!'
