The second story is a garbled mess and it's old anyway. The last thing I saw was that Amos (the former employee) was partially successful on appeal and that the class-action lawsuit about time shares is still active.

I have never been a fan of Ramsey, anyways

Baptist Press ❧ Dave Ramsey Partners with Sixteen State Conventions

"The state convention partnerships dovetail with an effort launched by the SBC Executive Committee at its 2018 annual meeting in Dallas.... State conventions were invited by the Executive Committee late last summer to consider...partnerships with Ramsey Solutions."

"Dave Ramsey told Southern Baptists during last year’s SBC annual meeting in Dallas of the urgent need to teach Christians nationwide about biblical money management."

"Brent Spicer, Ramsey Solutions’ director of strategic relationships, said one goal of the state convention partnerships is 'to help churches who either had never done an FPU class, or maybe haven’t done one in several years, and might not have the leadership materials to help get them started'."

"Tennessee Baptists have set a goal of five hundred churches offering FPU classes in the next thirty-six months, said Randy Davis, president of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. Over the past eighteen months, 137 Tennessee Baptist churches have offered FPU....If Tennessee Baptists as a whole got their personal finances in order and began tithing, Davis said, the increased revenue to churches could in turn increase CP giving 30–40 percent in the 'near future'."

I respect him trying to apply biblical principles to money management, but think at times he would get condescending and also too much into debt reduction . as putting gui;lt trip on anyone who did not agree must be totally debt free

He is right though. The only good debt is debt that is making you money. (Business debt or investment debt)

Granted he might be right about some things - BUT the way he does things.

There are people who who need help - and tearing them down - is not the way!
Sure, there may be times that tough love is needed - but use tact as well.

I will NEVER give Ramsey an invitation.

Found this on a look at Google:

My first question: Would you recommend Ramsey - if they said yes - --- click ----

I have seen a lot of people helped who attended his classes taught at local churches. He can be a bit blunt, but I have never disagreed with the content of his advice.

We NEED the hard-nosed, in-your-face Ramsey approach now more than ever. Might help this namby-pamby generation survive.

I personally did what he advocates decades ago, long before he came on the scene. Love Dave!!

Dave is well paid for his “ministry” for God.
As a Baptist, we oppose Church and State climbing in bed together because of the risk of corrupting both.
As Christians, we were warned that no man can serve both God and money.

The fact that every time I hear Dave speak, he is offering me a chance to buy something from his “ministry”, is what makes me uncomfortable with his “ministry” … just like a “State Church” that can legislate morality … it feels like an open door to corruption.

My daughter & SIL were living pay check to pay check early in their marriage. They took a DR course & started to implement it & ‘fore long - still struggling, BUT were actually saving part of their income. they have since - some 30+ years later are doing very well financially. I have paid no attention to DR, but from these posts I would gather that he has let his success become a source of pride. As for debt, I am a firm believer in NONE, if at all possible. For most, a car, some medical expenses and a house are out of reach sans debt. But as stated, this namby-pamby generation, (as well as a lot of old fogies) NEED the discipline DR teaches. He’s been doing this for years, AND he is only human, so I would ask that you cut him a little slack as he probably fails to realize that others do no grasp the concepts he teaches since they are everyday stuff to him.

Never knew any in our church that paid ANY money. He sells books (on cd, video, kits for monthly budget for the truly slow learners) but our public library has 33 copies of his books in English and Spanish, on tape or download. FREE. So pleased for his giving a father-like man-to-man talk of what should have been commonly taught at home and school math.

Thankfully our church is also have citizenship classes, marital classes, addiction classes and ALL are well attended and appreciated.

I have graduated Basic Training when I was in the Army - I do not need another Drill Sgt!

Maybe that thinking works for some - but not for others.

Both a drill sgt and Dave are needed by so many Millennials/Gen-Z today. They simply have never been taught financial life-skills.

And God help Generation Alpha, many are reaching teens now and totally asea.
