You can’t be serous?
After we get comfortable with snakes, we move on to the kool-aid.Isn't "no snakes" a Baptist distinctive?
Out of curiosity, “ How do you do Bible Study”?Not teaching the gospel of Christ Bible study by Bible study, sermon by sermon.
you mean comedy I’m thinking….showmanship, marketing etc.Yes, it's seriously satire...

There is a leap there….somewhere between…kinda from acapella to Pink Floyd.Yes, it's seriously satire...
our church does affiliate with the SBC and we are still independent!1.... being a part of denominations and conference's. MUST BE INDEPENDENT.
"Elder rule" is having pastors, deacons, and elders, and the "elders" are the ones who actually lead the church. The pastor is usually the "teaching elder," and does not lead the church. John Mac's church works that way, supposedly.Could you elaborate? Aren’t pastor’s elders?
Are you comfortable with the traditional Baptist deacon board rule?
Rob
Why?our church does affiliate with the SBC and we are still independent!

Why what?Why?
Why would you claim you are independent and affiliate with the SBC?Why what?
And so if you get a stinker of a Pastor, what’s the process to get rid of him?"Elder rule" is having pastors, deacons, and elders, and the "elders" are the ones who actually lead the church. As for "deacon rule," nope, they are servants (the meaning of diakonos, of course), not rulers. The pastor is the leader and the people rule in Baptist churches.
OK…we have a process where everyone attends the sermon, including children ( with the parents ) and if their are any questions it’s the parents responsibility to field the questions. And if the parents don’t understand then the Pastor fields the questions…or one of the elders step in to clarify.![]()

1 Tim. 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. 20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. And so if you get a stinker of a Pastor, what’s the process to get rid of him?

Got it….OK with that however I really prefer communal family oriented teaching. If you click on the sermons, you will notice that each week there is one labeled "Sunday School" and one labeled "Sunday Service". During the "Sunday School", the young children are taught separately.
Because we are an automatous local Baptist church - ie the SBC has no control over us.Why would you claim you are independent and affiliate with the SBC?
Because we are an automatous local Baptist church - ie the SBC has no control over us.
Our affiliation is strictly voluntarily!
We are NOT required to support SBC missionaries, use lifeway, attend any meetings, what
Bible version to use, and ect.
In fact, did you know there are SBC churches that support missionaries that are not IMB or NAMB
And BTW, our local (SBC) Association supports a non-SBC missionary
If and when we choose - we can be part of any of those activities.
Some think that if are SBC, you must join the State convention and local association. That just is not the case
Some are part of only one of the three - some 2 - though most churches choose to be affiliated with all three.
One other thing - a church may decided to join more than one local assocation and/or State convention.
AND our church does not have to be in that geographic area. Our Bap Convention of NY has churches in
Mass, Conn and 1 or 2 in Canada!
That sounds like being independent to me!
(PS- you might be surprised as to how many SBC churches do NOT send any $$ to the cooperative program!)
I was just thinking - if a bunch of KJO IFB ministers got together for a time of fellowship - and one pastor quoted a Bible verse
out of a Non-KJV Bible - I wonder what would happen!!!
I heard an old saying; if a man will not stand for something, he is likely to fall for anything. One last thing - I say I am a ifb - Not IFB!
As I explained - we have NO interference from the SBC. If anything they help us -That doesn’t make any sense. In any event, I will not have any affiliations with any church besides my own. I want no interference from SBC, ABC …XYZ etc.
