Does 'bear spray' work?

If the bear is that close it just means he wants pepper on his food.:)

If the bear is angry pepper spray may slow him down but will not stop him. Spray is only good to about 15 feet, a bear runs at 35 miles an hour. By the time he knows he has been sprayed he is on you. Even if he then ran away you have some serious injuries.

Possibly a war bring back or surplus rechambered in 30-06.
This is not an advertisement nor am I suggesting anyone buy it. It is just all the information given packed into one product.

What is really strange is that it was stated by LEOs to be a 30-06 chambered Mauser 98.

My Dad and brother were gunsmiths in their own right. Dad built one of the first 22.250s using a Mauser bolt action many years ago. The Mauser action/chambering is able to handle the extreme pressure of a cartridge throttled down to a .22 cal. 'Wildcat' is what they call these rifles. I still have the rifle, it's killed a lot of varmints.

Yes sir. 8mm 06 is what some of the vets did wildcatting. I think they even made some Mauser rifles into single shot shotguns.

That was my rifle of choice. I had several but that was the one I used most often. Would not call it a plinking rifle.
Here in Alberta you want something with good stopping power as we have grizzly bears to contend with.
I get that. We just plinked to see if my roommate would buy it. Enjoyed the experience with the rifle, but you won't get me out there where a bear might attack me! Confused Though I was recently in the Smoky Mountains in a house where a black bear regularly came in the yard to rob their bird feeder!
He was a young radical that went to far and now will pay the price.
Maybe the death penalty.
