Ok, add to the list that Charlie is unscriptural, + ignorant and unstable.

Cause Peter said so.

I’m sorry to be the one to break it to you mate, but you are showing all the signs and symptoms. I’m sorry.

But there is hope. A strong coarse of humility 3 times a day helps to dissolve the calcified prejudice build up that says Catholic= equals always wrong.
This will enable you consider that Catholics can be right at least twice a day.

Prayerful introspection and meditation on the words of Scripture I outlined helps remove eye scale, this will enable you to see possibly of another interpretation of Scripture far deeper and more profound.

We have been talking strictly from scripture on these things, I haven’t even brought in the Fathers.

Jesus being the bread of life, is NOT the passover Last Supper remembrance. But the coming and believing in Him.

Those that didn’t believe Jesus words, that His flesh was real food and blood was real drink, and to eat His flesh and drink His blood, didn’t make it to the Last Supper, they no longer followed Him.

They rejected the invite and by their unbelief they had no garment to attend Jesus feast.

John 6:63, It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Jesus words are discerned by spiritual men by The Spirit, carnal men will not understand or believe. They call it foolish and walk away.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.” 1 Cor 2:14-16.

Catholics are constantly accused of foolishness by Protestants and Baptists all the time for believing Jesus flesh is real food and His blood is real drink. They have been far more assertive in this charge of foolishness than atheists ever were.

Idiot, dumb, fool, cannibal. Countless times I have been insulted for my faith and belief in Jesus words. Believe me.

“The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.65 He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”

Those who do not believe Jesus words, betray Him.

“But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven.Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

“He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has Eternal Life, and I will raise him up on the Last Day. “

“ My flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. “

The Eucharist is the bread which is Jesus Flesh, given for the Life of the world.

All those who believe in Jesus, believe His words are invited. Their belief is their garment for this feast.

Cathode, we protesters believe in the body Christ offered and the Blood He shed for the remission of sins.

We take the symbol of His body and and blood in remembrance that our faith is in Him alone for our salvation.

Lev. 17:11

"For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. "

Matt. 26:28

"For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."

No you haven’t. You have seen enough of what you wrongly think the Catholic Church to be.

Not into lighting candles.

Nothing wrong with lighting candles, only putting them under a bowl or bushel.

and kissing statues.

Nothing wrong with kissing statues either.

It’s worshipping statues as Gods of themselves that is wrong, but thankfully the Catholic Church put an end to this pagan practice throughout Europe, the Isles and the new world and various parts of Asia.

It's the finished work of Christ alone that saves the soul of man, and that alone.

Anything added to that cancels out the Grace of God, but we've been through that haven't we, Cathode?

You are meant to eat the flesh and drink blood of Jesus Sacrifice, that’s the whole point to receive His Life, that’s why came here. Only Jesus Himself is Life.

"For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." Matt. 26:28

“ Take this all of you and drink it “

You forgot this part.

You talk about Jesus blood saving, why don’t you drink His Blood as He says?

“ Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. “

Well, you can refuse to eat Jesus Flesh and drink His Blood as He tells us to do.

You can deny that His Flesh is real food and Blood real drink, it’s entirely your choice.

The invite has been sent to all for this wedding feast, all the places at the banquet will be filled regardless who refuses to come.

Many of the Kings servants even pushy ones have been sent out and have been met with flat refusals.

Get up, eat and drink, lest the journey be to long for you.

Only Jesus is our connection to Eternity.

Jesus is Eternal Divine but also fully physical Man, He bridges the two worlds.

By His Sacrifice we are able to partake of His Divine Life by eating His Flesh and drinking His Blood where His Divinity resides.

“ He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has Eternal Life, and I will raise Him up on the Last Day. “

Jesus Flesh and Blood gives Divine Life and has the power of the Resurrection in it for the Resurrection of our bodies. We are not just spirit but body as well, and our flesh and blood needs the life of Jesus Flesh and Blood.
The Life of The Father comes us from Eternity through Jesus.

“Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who eats me will live because of me. “

Jesus is the daily Manna that comes down to us from Heaven in the Eucharist to sustain us to bodily Resurrection and Eternal Life.

“Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven.Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh”

“ He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood, abides in me and I in him “

This is the wedding Covenant Feast of Christ and His Bride the Church.

Two become one in marriage, Covenant exchange of persons.

The Eucharist is where we abide in Christ and He in us, in Covenant exchange of persons, one body with Christ.

Jesus shares out His Flesh and Blood, not just to give life to the Apostles but life to all those who believe Jesus down the ages.

All scripture points to Jesus in The Holy Eucharist, His Flesh and Blood giving Eternal Life and Resurrection to our flesh and blood.

It may seem strange to our human minds, but this is the way The Father so ordered it.

“From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.”

You must face Jesus words and believe them.

And, He didn't say: 'Come back! You misunderstood me, I didn't mean it the way you are taking it.'

He used: 'Verily, verily'.

John 6:47-48, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life.

'Spirit and life' doesn't mean 'symbolic'. You might point to John 6:63, where Jesus says: 'it is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh is of no avail' but this does not mean He was speaking metaphorically. He is comparing an earthly understanding (flesh alone) with the spiritual life He offers. In other words, without the Spirit's help, you can't understand this teaching. I have read that the Greek word here 'sarx' often refers to our fallen, sinful nature. Imho, Jesus is telling us that our human efforts (without faith) are not sufficient.

Cathode mentioned that the Early Church writers had not been brought into it. But, I remember as a Baptist realizing their beliefs were not close to modern evangelical doctrine concerning holy communion. Early Christians took John 6 literally.

John 6:35-63 is about the coming and believing in Christ to have eternal life. Not the Passover Remembrance.

So all you have to do is believe in your head and not follow His Commandments.
Believing in Christ means believing His words, His teachings, and following His commands.

Jesus said they were symbolic (Spiritual) words, not literal words.

You are adding to scripture, Jesus didn’t say symbolic, and spiritual doesn’t mean symbolic. The Father is Spirit and The Holy Spirit is Spirit, are you saying they are just symbolic. No, very seriously wrong here man.

You added the word symbolic to justify your unbelief in the words Jesus actually spoke.
You went outside of Scripture and worst of all, you added your own words like some others have done recently to my horror.

I’ll follow what Jesus said.

You actually don’t follow what Jesus said, you added your words to scripture. I can’t believe people are doing this so blatantly and think nothing of it.

What I said was that Jesus said the words He spoke were spiritual words. That means, imo, they are symbolic.

The Apostle Paul says the Lord’s Supper proclaims His death until He comes again. That is symbolic.

I do understand you disagree, but please don’t misrepresent my position as “adding” or “changing” the words of Jesus.

That is simply untrue. I am explaining the context in which they were written and, according to the context, His words were never meant to be taken literally.

Peace to you

Do you deny John 6:35-63 is Jesus teaching about coming and believing in Him to possess eternal life?

A false accusation. I don't conflate Jesus being the bread of life with a works salvation.

What I said was that Jesus said the words He spoke were spiritual words. That means, imo, they are symbolic.

Ok so it’s your opinion. Thank you for clarifying, I appreciate it mate.

But let me show you how wrong you are in your conclusion. Please read this all the way through, it’s a bit long I know, but it needs a complete explanation. Thanks in advance.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.” 1 Cor 2:14-16.

This is the context of Jesus words, in trying to convince people of a literal reality but believed in Faith spiritually.

“The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.”

So in context, Jesus is talking about their lack of belief in His literal words, not that His flesh profits nothing.

Because “ the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

The natural man is the flesh that profits nothing and will not believe Jesus.

So Jesus teaching that they must literally eat His Flesh and drink His Blood, they could not believe as the natural man the flesh.

“This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”

The natural man, the flesh or human reasoning cannot accept eating Jesus flesh and drinking His Blood, it’s foolishness to him, a hard teaching impossible for him to believe.

So who did believe Jesus words, and how? That Jesus Flesh was real food and Blood was real drink, and that they must eat His Flesh and drink His Blood.

The Spiritual man believed Jesus words.

“But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.”

“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.”

68 “Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”

Peter made a supernatural act of Faith in Jesus words.

So Jesus words were very literal but only believed spiritually by Faith.

Peter didn’t humanly know or understand “ How “ Jesus would give His Flesh to eat, or “ How “ Jesus Flesh could be real food, and Blood real drink.

But Peter believed in Faith by The Spirit. Only later at the Last Supper did Peter understand how Jesus would institute this, giving His Body and Blood to eat and drink.

So both those disciples that left Jesus and those that stayed, understood Jesus was speaking literally, but were exposed by Jesus Words, as either the natural man the flesh that profits nothing, in human reasoning, and the spiritual man that believes in Faith by The Spirit.

Catholics today will tell you, we only believe it because Jesus said it. Human reasoning of the natural man, the flesh will profit you nothing. You must face Jesus shocking literal words and hard teaching here by Faith by The Spirit to believe.

The natural man can not pass through this singularity of Faith, only the spiritual man by The Spirit, the flesh profits nothing.

It is mysterious who will be given to believe Jesus words here, it is only granted by The Father to believe The Son.

“This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”

My explanations will fall short in essence, only The Father can grant you to believe Jesus words here.

The Apostle Paul says the Lord’s Supper proclaims His death until He comes again. That is symbolic.

Not symbolic. The Eucharist proclaims Jesus death because we partake of that sacrifice and death which made Jesus Flesh and Blood available to us to eat and drink as He commanded.

John 6:47-48, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

What do you interpret by “ believeth on me “?

Just mere intellectual assent, but not following Jesus commands and teaching?

I am that bread of life.

Then Jesus goes on and gets more specific.

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven.Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

Right, so this bread is His Flesh, which he will give for the life of the world, because whoever eats this bread which He says is His Flesh, will live forever.

WOW man. Only the Eucharist could be this bread which is His Flesh, which we eat to live forever, and be raised on the last day.

“ Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood has Eternal Life, and I will raise him up on the Last Day “

Gee, I’m glad Jesus clarified this so I didn’t miss out on eating His Flesh and drinking His Blood. That would be horrendous to read about it and then not actually do what Jesus says.

What a huge stupid loss would it be to miss out on eating Jesus Flesh and drinking His Blood because I obstinately ignored Jesus Holy words in Holy Scripture.

“ Unless you eat the Flesh of The Son of Man, and drink His Blood, you have no life in you. “

Sounds kinda important.
