The Apostle Paul says the Lord’s Supper proclaims His death until He comes again. That is symbolic.

Not symbolic. The Eucharist proclaims Jesus death because we partake of that sacrifice and death which made Jesus Flesh and Blood available to us to eat and drink as He commanded.

We have a prayer we say at Communion.

“ When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your death oh Lord, until you come again. “

Because for us it is not just bread and wine, but the Flesh and Blood of Christ crucified.

That is why it is a proclamation of Jesus death, because it is Jesus Body and Blood.

Something symbolic, would not actually be a proclamation of Jesus death.

No, but He adds more to this coming and believing in Him, He gets really specific about receiving eternal life.

You’d have to believe Jesus flesh is real food and blood is real drink, to be able come to Him and eat His flesh and drink His blood.

Sure, if you believe Jesus words, that by eating His flesh and drinking His blood you will receive Eternal Life, you will then eat His flesh and drink His blood to receive Eternal Life.

But not believing Jesus words, that His Flesh is real food and blood real drink or that you must eat His flesh and drink His blood, you don’t believe and don’t come to Jesus, and you don’t eat and drink his flesh and blood as He says.

Catholics actually believe Jesus words, this is the difference.

We actually believe that Jesus flesh is real food and blood is real drink.

The Bread of Life discourse John 6 and the Last Supper John 13 is very closely linked.

In John 6, why is Judas’ lack of belief that Jesus flesh is real food and blood is real drink, and they must eat His flesh and drink His blood, linked to Jesus later betrayal by Judas.
