"Department of War, a name it held from 1789 until 1947. "
No. Back then you had the Dept. of War and the Dept. of the Navy
In 1947 the Army Air Corps became the USAF, the Dept of War became the Deot of the Army and the Department of Defence was created over the three departments (Army, Air Force, and Navy).

Since our Lord declared “Blessed be the peacemakers”, I wish we had a Department of Peace. An agency that developed high level resolution of international and domestic conflicts through peaceful, non-combative means.
I would say that is Dept of State

I don't understand him. He gets things done, but at what cost? It's costing me my sanity.
Daniel 2:44 KJV

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

Just remember Mr. Trump is of the kingdoms preceding the kingdom of which God sets up.

IMHO we are awaiting the perfect Ruler.

Are you referring to the Millennial kingdom?

Who or what does the iron and clay represent? What kingdom was inferior to Babylon, the head of gold?

President Trump is something that is what you see behind a glass cabinet with the warning "Break Glass In Case of Emergency!" Well we have been in an emergency for a while. He is needed and his agenda and methods for the most part are exactly what needs to happen. Every once in a while I wish he would shut up.

I agree! Trump for years has been the (ultimate) CEO and he had the final word in the Trump organization. But as POTUS - he might be CEO - but he needs to realize that he is not the ultimate decision maker. Once in a while "Engage Brain before moving mouth".

But overall, I do like Trump.

It dawned on me as I was typing this post that a whole year has passed since the 2024 presidential election. Boy, how the time flies!

Anyway, I was interested to know if the members of this board approve or disapprove of the job Mr. Trump is doing.

Do you believe that we have entered into the promised Golden Age in American history? Has his team accomplished everything that you were expecting, or is there more that you’d like to see done?
I approve the job he is trying to do.RINOs in Congress impeding him.

Am I the only one amused by the irony that Trump (as a "true Republican") is a classic "Southern Democrat" whom Ronald Regan would violently disagree with, and the modern "Democrats" are classic "Socialists" that Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez would applaud?

Southern democrats I remember were very Conservative. Modern Democrats would not applaud Southern Democrats. Southern Democrats were segregationists among other things.

Southern Democrats were more "Fiscal conservative, Pro-Tariff protectionist and Isolationist" than the "Cut Taxes, World Trade and Interventionism" of the Ronald Regan Republicans (IIRC).

Does Trump say some things that are not "politically correct" Of course -
But on the other hand - there is no doubt as to where he stands on an Issue.

I went to a political rally (debate) one night for State Assembly.
Since the issue of abortion did not come up
I asked where he stood on abortion.
He answered "this is not the time nor the place to discuss this"
That year I decided to vote for a Democrat!

and then in 1798 the Dept of the Navy was formed - thus after than Dep of War was only the Army
until 18 September 1947 - when DoD was formed. then the Dept of the Army was formed.
Yep.

If we "went back" to a department of war we would have:

1. The Dept of War
2. The Department of the Nave
a. Marine Corp
3. The Department of the Air Force
a. Space Corp

I guess the Coast Guard could go back to Dept of Transportation and we could get rid of Homeland Security?

But the department which is DoD was never called the Dept of War.

Anyway....as long as we don't go back to black snd white TV I'm gine whatever we want to call it.
