In 1947 the Army Air Corps became the USAF, the Dept of War became the Deot of the Army and the Department of Defence was created over the three departments (Army, Air Force, and Navy).

and then in 1798 the Dept of the Navy was formed - thus after than Dep of War was only the Army until 18 September 1947 - when DoD was formed. then the Dept of the Army was formed.

Since our Lord declared “Blessed be the peacemakers”, I wish we had a Department of Peace. An agency that developed high level resolution of international and domestic conflicts through peaceful, non-combative means.
