The 82nd Airborne is being deployed to the Middle East

It's getting interesting in the Middle East, some reports are saying up to 3000 from the 82nd combat battalion are being sent.

It's going to get serious if they turn those boys loose, they don't play games.

This Iran war is starting to smell like the Afghanistan war, Iraq war, and Vietnam war. Wars we could not win.

What is different is that we are protecting Israel. Iran chanted death to America, death to Israel. Iran was close to nuclear weapons. But it seems impossible to win permanently. I hope I am wrong.

I like Gen. Jack Keane's take on anything military. He's the chairman of the institute for the study of war.

He said if they keep at it as is it will take 3 more weeks and Iran is completely done, unless they surrender before then.

Ground troops won't be necessary if their new leadership will follow Trump's instructions.

Thank you for relieving my gloom. I feel so horrible seeing missiles hitting Tel Aviv. I pray that this war will end soon, with minimal civilian deaths.

Gen. Keane said that Russia is helping Iran with drone technology, and couldn't talk about what will be done on that.

Right now he said the US fighter pilots were taking down the drones.

Salty, what do you think the purpose of ground troops will be?

I’m thinking their goal will primarily be to enable the Iranian people to form a new government, protecting them from the IRGC.

Trump sent an initial 1500 of the 82nd 1st Brigade, that is a battalion in the 82nd.

They were reporting at the time of the OP up to 3000 men.

That would have been a 2nd battalion.

I think the 2nd battalion has already been deployed.

The Air Force can do a great job - but it takes ground troops to complete the mission.
