Random thoughts on the limits God imposed upon man.
God is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. God is present at the end right now and looks back on his creation. He may veto a few decisions we make but really God took care of that when he created mankind to be able to only make certain decisions.
God looks backward to all that occurs in this life from eternity future. He sees the future as that which has already happened in our finite world. Man sees it as Future and God sees it as history. So, when someone accepts Christ, God looks backward to see this event. He didn't cause the event, much like I didn't cause the Civil War.
God is the eternal NOW, he has already watched all events that take place in finite time. He does not cause a person to accept Christ. God not only saw the event of a person accepting Christ, and did not override the person's decision. Predestination is not to Salvation. We are predestined to be like Christ one day.
I watched the rerun of a football game last year. The game had already played when I watched it, but I didn't cause the team that won to win. It was already history. I didn't cause any part of the game.
God made us to live in a restricted earth. All decisions we make are known to God as he looks back on it from eternity future. God exercised his sovereignty when he created man to exist within certain limits. Man is not free to destroy the world. Man is free to act certain ways but God reserves the right to veto the decision. God never causes a person to be saved or lost. Man is free to make that decision. God will help all people to make the decision for Him, but he will not override a person's will in the area of salvation.
