Idk. My parents seen hard times growing up in the Depression and taught us kids that 'Republicans cause depressions and Democrats start wars' to get out of or prevent depressions.

It's logical to me though that the military industry of WW2 had to help our economy out of the Great Depression.

FDR’s “New Deal” deepened and prolonged the great depression. He put the “Great” in the Great Depression.

From what I have read, and it has been a while, there was intel on Japanese movements in the Pacific and military experts had warned the fleet in Hawaii should put out to sea.

Why they stayed in port is unknown and has led to speculation FDR was daring Japan to attack as justification to enter the war.

I don’t believe that. I see FDR in the same light as Jimmy Carter. Good heart, bad liberal policies.

Could have been some military leaders downplayed the expectation of Japan attacking, hoping to justify entering the war.

I would believe that before FDR
