Some have said that FDR wanted us in WW II to get us out of the Depression.
Some say he knew about the plan to bomb Pearl Harbor.

Did getting involved in WW II help the US to dig out of the Great Depression?

YES!

Did FDR push for entry into the war for that reason?

Idk. My parents seen hard times growing up in the Depression and taught us kids that 'Republicans cause depressions and Democrats start wars' to get out of or prevent depressions.

It's logical to me though that the military industry of WW2 had to help our economy out of the Great Depression.

FDR’s “New Deal” deepened and prolonged the great depression. He put the “Great” in the Great Depression.

From what I have read, and it has been a while, there was intel on Japanese movements in the Pacific and military experts had warned the fleet in Hawaii should put out to sea.

Why they stayed in port is unknown and has led to speculation FDR was daring Japan to attack as justification to enter the war.

I don’t believe that. I see FDR in the same light as Jimmy Carter. Good heart, bad liberal policies.

Could have been some military leaders downplayed the expectation of Japan attacking, hoping to justify entering the war.

I would believe that before FDR

Peace to you

Well, Woodrow Wilson (D) is the President who is responsible for signing into law what brings us the Federal Reserve. From March when congress convened after elections until December when the law was signed, democrats were the majority party in the House and the Senate. So you can’t really blame Republicans for the Federal Reserve, as far as I can tell. And the Great Depression was the failure of the Federal Reserve to keep the nation solvent like it promised it would. That on the foundation of spending on credit, when everyone is looking for money, and nobody is able to immediately pay their debts, you have a lot of people who don’t have credit to borrow money, and a lot of people who lost money because of poor investments and this is not an exhaustive explanation of the Great Depression either. Was Hoover the President? Yes. Is he responsible for the way all the people lived during his administration? Well, he was “holding the bag.” But I don’t think he was completely responsible for the depression.
The gold standard could have helped to prevent some of these problems.
L. Frank Baum’s book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” as an allegory for following the gold standard (yellow brick road) and traveling steadily on silver (Dorothy’s silver shoes, ruby slippers was a cinematic substitute) evidences that the topic had long been a concern. (this is a politically debated topic)

I’ll leave that one alone. I don’t have the time.

The only thing that we did is get the economy moving and put the government in debt. The government borrowing does jump start the manufacturing industry but industry converted for war and the things people were making often were sidelined to build things that were soon to be destroyed by war. That was destroying value and financing it on war bonds. This is not sound monetary policy. But if you die or your country is destroyed/overcome in war, that is also not sound monetary policy. “All is fair in love and war.”

I do not think FDR entered the war planning develop and use the bomb on Japan. But the plan to develop the weapon may have been encouraging (the initial suggestion was it could be used - if it was developed - on Germany to end the war, but this was given to FDR prior to the US entering WW2).

While WW2 certainly got us out of the Great Depression, I doubt that was DR'S reason. But maybe it did come into play. I don't know.

It is a serious kind of conspiracy theory that says that FDR was planning for German and Japanese aggression towards the USA in order to exit the depression.
That implies that FDR had a hand in the training of Hitler and the Japanese government.

I would imagine that deregulation in order to get military supplies out faster had more to do with getting us out of depression. The New Deal kept us in depression despite the constant teaching that it solved the problem.

My father was born in Oklahoma in 1933, right in the middle of the dust bowl years,
and in '36 his family uprooted and moved to Shafter Calif. If you've ever seen "Grapes
of Wrath", well, that was the same trip my father, his 7 siblings and parents made.

History is hindsight. It is open ground for conspiracy theorists.

Atheists see nothing wrong in lying, as they do not believe in God or His admonition to stick to the truth. That is why it seems strange for Christians to make agreements with non-Christians. As far as I know, they never keep their word. Mr. Hitler certainly didn't.

So some have said they can read FDR's mind, and have found evil, rather than his best effort to avoid war while protecting our liberty. I am certainly no fan of FDR from 1932 to 1937, but we all should thank God for FDR's brilliant leadership and wise delegation from 1938 to 1945.

And of course, the claim FDR allowed the sneak attack of Pearl Harbor is a lie straight from Satan's playbook.

Last point, WWII did indeed get us out of the great depression. That does not mean we sought war to solve our economic woes, that claim is just more propaganda from the enemies of Christ.
