Women are Not to Teach or Usurp Authority...

The thread topic was in relation to how God could use women in ministry. You hold to what Paul had said and I say the bible shows that God has and still does use whom He wants how He wants where He wants.

That is not changing the subject Ben

Why are you trying to convince me that that women cannot preach when I see that it is up to God to use the people He chooses to use.
This is a simple question - do you believe everything in the Bible is the Word of God or do you believe God changes his mind?

You forgot to mention the churches that they were pastors of.

That is just a desperate attempt to say that women cannot be pastors. Try to be a bit realistic in your responses.

Remember we are the church not the building, so since they were teaching the gospel message then they would be just like Paul when he taught at the river.

Do you really think they have to be in a building before they can be said to be the pastor of group of learners?

I quoted scripture that proves you to be wrong. You've also haven't answered my question. Do you believe everything in the Bible is the Word of God or do you believe God changes his mind?

Paul did not say Phoebe was a pastor, deacon, or elder of the church. He asked she be received with Christian love and kindness. As for as the Great Commission is concerned, the Gospel is to be spread to all. The scriptures I provided clarifying the qualifications of pastors, elders, and deacons is a separate issue than the Gospel. Those scriptures do not say women cannot be involved in the ministry, they just can't fill those roles we're discussing,.

Who are to spread the gospel?

I have been saying that all along so it seems you are the one that just figured that out.
I misread the flow of the thread. You’re trying to take a government application and make it fit in the church. While there may be a principle to apply, the way you apply it, you might just as well say that we are to submit to Satan in this world because he is the god of this world.
You are just twisting applications of Scripture to fit your human comfort. It makes no sense.

You quoted scripture that fits the culture of that time.

The bible shows me a God that will use whomever He chooses when and where He chooses and you do not seem able to accept that reality.

That is not the topic. Unless you think that is just the job of a pastor. Then we have some real problems in this thread.
Spreading the gospel is not exercising authority. So you are expanding the scope again.

No Ben I am not, one of the responsibilities of a pastor is to spread the gospel actually it is the main one. So if God uses women to do just that then why do you think she is not qualified to be a pastor?

You seem to have a double standard.

Then what you're saying is God changed his mind about women being pastors, elders, and deacons. Am I right?

It has nothing to do with the building. Stop hiding and answer the question. What assemblies called churches were they pastors of? When were they made pastors?

I think @Silverhair is confused. He seems to believe that only a pastor can spread the Gospel. He doesn't understand that pastors, elders, and deacons are leaders of the church. Scripture says women are not to serve in those roles because God does not want women having authority over men.

Since you cannot prove with scripture that women can be pastors, you persist in repeating “God will use whomever He chooses “.

Then, if a woman acts as a pastor, you claim that is God choosing to use her in that role.

But you are silent about the case I stated, where lesbian deacons were acting as preaching pastors in a church I attended.

Did God choose to use them?

We are. Women can tell people the good news, but they can't be pastors, elders, or deacons. There's a difference.

God seems to differ with you. As He has called those three women to be pastors.

pastor /păs′tər/

noun

  1. A Christian minister or priest having spiritual charge over a congregation or other group.
  2. A layperson having spiritual charge over a person or group.
  3. A shepherd.

The word pastor is taken from the metaphor of shepherding. A spiritual shepherd is a pastor. Ephesians 4:11 mentions that God gave some Christian leaders “to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers.” The word shepherd comes from the Greek word “poimane.” The word “poimane” appears 17 times in the New Testament. It literary means “shepherd” and figuratively means “pastor.” What Does It Mean To Be A Pastor?

Not at all but you seem to think that only men can be in that position.

Don't you trust God to use the right people?

Your logic: all pastors are supposed to spread the gospel therefore all spreaders of the gospel are fit to be pastors.
Same logic: all cats are animals therefore all animals are cats.

You are so dedicated to your position that you are illogical.

Read what the women did Ben. What do missionaries do? You are asking if some denomination said now your a pastor.

As you have said, God can use the wrong people.

Women pastors are the wrong people.
I don’t think it wise to follow the wrong people.

Sorry I was using Scriptural use for my definition and not a secular dictionary.

You consider all of these women as pastors of churches?
