I never said you taught universalism. I say that general redemption finds it's conclusion in universalism, much like the Roman Catholic concept of purgatory. You just aren't being honest with yourself and are in denial regarding the end outcome of general redemption.

Here is the problem with the so called general redemption theory, and a serious problem at that, if Christs substitutionary death was for everyone without exception, and not particular, but again general, and salvation from it depends on mans freewill choice or decision, then Christs death alone doesnt make the difference on ones eternal happiness, but mans freewill does, and instead of the merits of Christ death being effectual in and of itself unto salvation, mans will is what determined whether or not His death is effectual.

But that's a far cry from the Salvation Praises in Glory which go Rev 5:9

    9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

It appears to me here that Christs death/blood made the difference and was effectual.

10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Rom_5:10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

    Personal conviction

What we need is the revelation of Christ within us; not the communication of truths yet unrevealed, as was necessary in the case of the founders of our religion, but the communication of truths already made known; the removal of the veil from our hearts, and the giving of the knowledge of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Each of us must for himself discover the hidden treasure; whether the light flashes upon us in an instant, as with the woman at the well of Jacob, or comes to us as the result of long search and patient inquiry, as in the case of the Ethiopian eunuch, we must find the Messiah, we must hear Him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

It will not suffice, in this day at least, to take religion upon trust, to accept the popular faith, just because it is popular. Such belief will not stand in the day of trial; it certainly will exercise no constraining influence upon our hearts and lives. Whether for our peace or for our usefulness, Christ must live within us; the reasonable mind must apprehend Him, the heart must cleave to Him. Thus our lives will tell upon the world around us. There will be a living power within, full of holy joy, and peace, and comfort; whilst a living power will go forth from us, and act silently, it may be, but effectually, upon the world without. This tells me you refuse to acknowledge your problem and have walked away like Ignorance did with Christian in Pilgrims Progress. So be it.

BF how many times must you be told this? You are now just showing your lack of understanding of scripture or your refusal to accept what the bible says.

Well since Christ died for the whole world and not all are saved you do the math. Christ died so that all could live and those that trust in the risen Christ will live. That seems to be a concept that is beyond your skill level to understand.

Do you affirm or do..you deny the Biblical know so salvation? If you affirm it,, how would you present or offer it to a not yet saved person?

    "the biblical know so salvation"
Please explain what that means to you. You have used it without definition, as though it is a phrase from the Bible. How can anyone agree or disagree with a phrase that you invented and haven't yet defined.

Please define your coined phrase for us.

BF read my post. I am really concerned that you are having such a hard time understanding clear English. As I have said many many times the death of Christ saved no one it is His life. But you fail to understand this or rather it does not fit your calvinist philosophy so you keep asking for a different answer. Trust what the bible says BF then you will not have so many problems.

You keep insisting that the death of Christ saved those He died for. If we held to your philosophy then you are a universalist.

No one disputes that God saves us and we can know this to be true.
General Redemption is unnecessary for this to be true. God can/and does redeem individually and you can know He has saved you.
It seems your mental block is that you think you have to have every human redeemed before salvation so that you can pick God and know you made a good pick.

The thing is...you never picked. God picked you. He broke into your shackles slave cell and He chose to free you. You didn't choose him while you danced in the periwinkle of freedom. The Bible tells you that you were in slavery and dead in sin. What freedom of the will do you imagine you had? Whatever it is, you don't find it in the Bible. What you find in the Bible is your wretchedness and your need for a Redeemer.

    *Isaiah 59:1-21*
Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies; your tongue mutters wickedness. No one enters suit justly; no one goes to law honestly; they rely on empty pleas, they speak lies, they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity. They hatch adders’ eggs; they weave the spider’s web; he who eats their eggs dies, and from one that is crushed a viper is hatched. Their webs will not serve as clothing; men will not cover themselves with what they make. Their works are works of iniquity, and deeds of violence are in their hands. Their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their highways. The way of peace they do not know, and there is no justice in their paths; they have made their roads crooked; no one who treads on them knows peace. Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness does not overtake us; we hope for light, and behold, darkness, and for brightness, but we walk in gloom. We grope for the wall like the blind; we grope like those who have no eyes; we stumble at noon as in the twilight, among those in full vigor we are like dead men. We all growl like bears; we moan and moan like doves; we hope for justice, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far from us. For our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and we know our iniquities: transgressing, and denying the Lord, and turning back from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart lying words. Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter. Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. The Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice. He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him. He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak. According to their deeds, so will he repay, wrath to his adversaries, repayment to his enemies; to the coastlands he will render repayment. So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing stream, which the wind of the Lord drives. “And a Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression,” declares the Lord. “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children’s offspring,” says the Lord, “from this time forth and forevermore.”

The whole of our Lord's life is a saving event.
Hiis 'humiliation,' that is , His life of complete righteousness and opbedience to the Father's will saves us (Romans 5:19). He was obedient not just in His death, but 'unto death' (Philippians 2:8).
His atoning death upon the cross saves us. We are 'justified by His blood' and 'reconciled [to God] by His death' (Romans 5:9-10). 'By His wounds we are heaaled.' His death opened a new and living way for us to come to God (Mark 15:38-39; Hebrews 6:19; 10:19-20).
His resurrection from the dead saves us. 'He was delivered over to death for our sins and raised for our justification' (Romans 4:25).
His session at God's right hand saves us. Hebrews 5:8-10.
His reurn in glory saves us. Isaiah 25:6-9; Hebrews 9:28.

    '.......So great a salvation' (Hebrews 2:3; 2 Samuel 23:5).

Before God saves you, you will consider the gospel to be foolishness.
I will keep quoting scripture to you until it sinks in and you believe it.
    *1 Corinthians 1:20-31*

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

Are you actually that ignorant that you can not read what I said. BF you are the typical calvinist. You do ignore anything that you do not like. Which in your case is most of the bible. You have become a waste of my time. The sad part is that you will think that you are right in your delusional fantasy called calvinsm. Have a good day BF.
