Hello girls and boys! I got a 26' U-Haul for my 45th birthday! I got to load it with all my stuff, drive it 250 miles and take all my stuff back out. We just moved into what madre calls a quaint 3 story townhouse. There are two full flights of stairs (12 steps each) between each floor and guess where most of our stuff goes? Floors 2 & 3!

That was her antidote for me feeling a little long in the tooth, so to speak. About the 40th trip to the third floor I said, "I'm getting too old for this." She said something about being only as old as you feel. I said something unkind and hurt her feelings. Now I'm out flowers and chocolate.

They say you get smarter as you get older. Anyone know when that kicks in?

Jim: Don't be sending ME any squirrels. I have plenty of my own!

padre: We ladies have to have SOME reason to get flowers and chocolate!

I'm up way past my bedtime and I've got a garage sale to 'hit' tomorrow (they have a lot of nice clothes in Brent's size) and it opens at 8:00.

Brent fell on his bike today and scraped both knees up pretty bad. I told him he looked like me when I was his age. Yes, I was a tomboy...

    Pleasant dreams all!

    Good morning all,

No garage 'sailing' today. It's raining. :(

The wind is blowing pretty hard and we are supposed to end up with an inch of rain before nightfall.

I think I'll just cozy up with a good book!

    Time for coffee,

We are having Blackberry Winter today. After temps in the upper 70's and low 80's, today's high is supposed to be 69.

We're putting mulch down today, so at least we won't get too hot!

Too bad about the garage 'sailing' Sue! We had a neighborhood garage sale last week, with probably 25 or 30 garage sales in the neighborhood. You should come down and we could go to a few. [IMG]

    Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

    Good morning all:

Glad to see the CGCH jumping again! It was a little lonely without others posting!

It's 71 here today with a chance of rain. There is an auction going on up the road, 14 lots for sale, and I'm looking for them to go fast! We hear that there is supposed to be some kind of development coming out our way, so we may be putting the ol' homestead up for sale in March of 07, when we'll be out from under the "early payoff penalty" clause in our contract. We want to move closer to Viv's job. With the price of gas increasing, food and everything else increasing, we've considered buying a repo'd mobile home and putting it in a nice mh park and living there and saving money. Retirement is moving up for us faster than we want it to, and we want enough to live on when that hits us! But, God will give us guidance.

Glad to see some "chatter" on the topic of squirrel's again. I miss eating them at the "Wild Game Suppers" that Faith Baptist in Pekin would have. [IMG] They were a little greasy, but, it was worth it for the fellowship!

Sue, stay dry this weekend. Keep out of the rain. We don't need you laid up with pneumonia or bronchitis.

    Jim, have a great weekend.

The rest of you, have a great weekend, too.

    Bro. T

Hey Jim, there's a squirrel solution for you: Have Tony contact his old church and see if they'll send a group up to hunt your squirrels. Two way benefit, they get meat for their squirrel supper and you get less squirrels! Make it a Brotherhood event and you might get folks from other churches too.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Finally, finally got to cut grass yesterday. Got the front mostly done, weedeating and all, and the back about a third of the way done. Then had to break feed the folks (we went OUT!) and go buy some weed killer and a cartful of other stuff. I am not weedeating the fence all summer long. Stupid thing makes my hands hurt. Doesn't bother my back, like its supposed to, just my hands. Can't weedeat if I can't hold the dumb thing!

Got some roses planted in a couple of bare corners of the house. Planted climbing ones cause these are areas of the house I don't want bare, but I don't want to tend to much either.

So it's back the yard today. The back is/was ten times worse than the front and full of ANTS. I hate ants! I've got some multipurpose yard granules that are supposed to kill the ants as well as fleas and ticks that I'm going to put out back there. I used it for the front last year and was quite pleased with the reduction in bugs. The ant beds are so big though I may have to double up on those and use an ant specific killer.

Have a question. Someone (names withheld to protect the innocent) gave the kids violet seeds a few years ago. Those somehow managed to get planted in a corner of the yard (I have lots of corners) where I didn't care if they grew or not. But I didn't realize how these thing could spread. It's great, except I don't know how to get them to spread where I want them to and not out into the general yard. Any ideas?

Gwen, we had our blackberry winter a couple of days ago. It usually lasts a week, but it didn't last but about a day. So I bundled up all the winter stuff and stuck it in the storage closet! Glad to be rid of it for a while.

Ya'll have a good one! DH is calling!

Good morning Gwen, Cindi and Tony!

Gwen: I don't like traveling - you come up here. :D

Tony: If we could afford it, we would let this house go and buy a mobile home. I owned one 30 years ago and I just loved it. They are SO much easier to keep clean!!!

Cindi: Transplant some of them where you want them or put up a retainer wall with landscaping blocks.

Daughter, Laura, from Indiana, just called and is coming by with three of my grandsons. I guess I had better 'uncozy' myself and get presentable.

    Y'all have a great day!

After noon y'all. Holy cow what a night here in Texas. I sure hope the rest of y'all in Texas made it through unscathed.

But on the bright side atleast the storms brought badly needed Rain.

    Good afternoon.

I am getting read to take 3 little girls to Dairy Queen. We're meeting 12 of their friends up there and getting them all ice cream. (pray for us)

I haven't met a lot of their friends parents, so this will be a nice time to at least see what they look like!

I guess I better go put something decent on and practice saying howdyado. LOL Wow, I've gotta go in just a few minutes! I'm ready for a nap, not going out!

I actually slipped a nap in today! Woo Hoo! Of course, it didn't start out that way.

My feet and ankles are so swollen again today that it hurts to walk. I guess I'm going to make a doctor's appointment next week to see what's going on. Hubby is worried I'm gonna lose both feet!

I went to the recliner so I could prop them up and fell asleep. Brent saw me sleeping and was very quiet so he would not wake me up.

I am still tired from my company today though, so I am going to bed. Maybe the swelling will go down during the night.

    Pleasant dreams all!

I slip a nap in all day. The chief problem wife has is waking me up. At least that is what she keeps saying to me.."Wake up...and listen...."

Oh, is time for bed already?

    Cheers,

    Jim

Good, uh, Hey! It's not morning, where is everyone!

    Oh well...Good Afternoon Everyone!

Hopefully everyone is not flooded and freezing the way us folks in Alabama are. Remember what I said about blackberry winter being last week? Well obviously, I spoke to soon, cause it's BACK! Left for church this morning and it was 69 and sunny. Came out 2 1/2 hours later and it had dropped five degrees and was pouring! It's what I get for going sleeveless and leaving my sweater in the car.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. I'm headed to check out the rest of the board and then Chris and I have to get back to finishing his make up work. He had 5 more pages of "economics", spelling words to learn and a library book to read. Then he is caught up from all the work he's missed being sick or migrainey the last few weeks. PTL!

I didn't get to sleep until 3:30 this morning, so I slept in until 8:30 and didn't have time to post.

    So, good afternoon all!

It is cold, very windy and raining here and the thunderstorms are starting. It just got about 10 degrees 'darker' (except for lightning flashes).

I may have to unplug the puter.

    CYAL!

    Hi folks,

Today was Homecoming Sunday, the 44h Anniversary of the BRBC. The founding Pastor is a member now. His wife has been in really poor health for the past year or so and was not able to attend. Bro. Godfrey made this AM and PM. (He's looking pretty frail, too.)

    Hi folks,

We had a great service in Danville, VA today. Our evening service was wonderful because we had a missionary with Rock of Ages Prison Ministry come and share his burden for prisons around the world. Great man with a great burden. I even got to go out to eat with him afterwards. I guess the neatest thing about his visit was that he had a Ukranian couple with him that spoke no english and had no interpretor, yet they seemed happy and content in the services. They even thanked us afterwards in their own way. So trully God blessed in a great way today.

    Morning all:

Well, this is the first day of the new "Five Day" work week for Vivian. They're going from 4 ten hour shifts. But, this week, since it's end of quarter for Dell, they're making them work 6 ten hour shifts and possibly seven.

I go to the Otolaryngologist on Tuesday at 4 pm. I don't think he'll like the fact that my hearing has gotten worse and that my balance problems and vertigo have increased. But, hey, he'll say "Live with it"...so that makes it all better, right? ;)

It was very windy and it rained off and on all day yesterday until around 6 pm, and then the sun started shining. I'm not sure what it's supposed to do today. I know that it's 49 here now. That's cool for this time of year.

Glad to hear about all of the good services yesterday. Many people yesterday were talking about the foreigners and their intent to "strike" today. Here in Tennessee, I'm not finding much sentiment their way. I believe Tyson here decided to take the day off so that they wouldn't have to fire the illegals, as did some other plants. But, they are sure gonna make it rough on them the next few months.

Well, hope ya'll have a great day.

    Bro. T
