    Jim,

How is the little dog doing now? She is blessed to have had you find her and take her into your home.

    Blessings

It will, no doubt, take some time to get her fattened up, but, I agree, she's lucky to have found someone like Jim.

What's her name going to be Jim???

    Good Morning all!

Who says Christmas is over? Not over here until after this evening when my sister and her family will come over for dessert, coffee and presents for the children.

Housekeeping is on my list of things to do today as well. I've some sewing to do as well if everything else gets done. No ironing but a ton of laundry to wash and sort.

Diane, Son will turn 10 on January 5. We are hoping that this will turn into a competition sport that he will enjoy. He is very slightly built and team sports like baseball and basketball don't suit him even though he enjoys them. Once he gets to old for Upward Basketball, I'm afraid he won't have a physical activity to participate in. Sports are very competitive here and Son's size puts the coaches off. It also works against him that T and I aren't very sports oriented and can't help him practice.

I hope you get your kitty today. I'd love one but T say that 10 living nonhuman creatures are enough for this household. I've told him that if we don't get a cat we'll have to start counting the field mice that sneak in as pets, but he doesn't believe me.

Jim, its wonderful that you picked up that poor dog. I hate when people dump their animals out to fend for themselves.

Been away for a while. There are so many neat Christmassy things posted, thank you for sharing them. My apologies to those who have had bad experiences lately, cars hit at Mcdonald's, friends in wrecks, families with flu, cats named Ethel. I wanted to wish everyone the joy of the Lord in the New Year! It is hard to fathom that it is going to be 2005!

May God's goodness and mercy be upon you all. [IMG] [IMG]

Hi everyone. I call the dog Buddy. At the moment she is sleeping behind me on a wool blanket. It is refreshing to think that she now has that measure of security.

According to her teeth, she is but a pup, I figure not a year old. We will take her to veterinary right after New Year's...they closed for the holidays, except for emergencies. She is eating, drinking and performing all the body functions, and yes, including canine flatus, so, aside from being frightfully thin, she is doing well and settled in with the other dogs and cats here..the Jim's Zoo and Hostel.

Cheers, and thanks for your interest,

    Jim

Well we headed to the animal shelter expecting to get the 1 year old Pandora but Pandora didn't want to be held or cuddled and tried to get back in her cage. There were SO many beautiful cats. Most were older and very loving but since we just lost an older cat, we chose a beautiful calico that is 4-5 months old and had just been spayed on 12/15. She still has her stitches. We've named her Patches and I think you'll see why. She's very loving and is curled on the sofa in the t.v. room while Nick plays a game.

Beautiful cat Diane and you picked the name "Patches".

I feel honored. That was the name I suggested! [IMG]

I guess I missed something over the Christmas weekend - not much time to post when I'm not at work.

Diane, I'm so glad you got another cat!!!! [IMG]

The one female I had when I lived with my parents was a tortoiseshell named Patches. But we called her that because when she adopted us by seeking refuge in our back alley, we had to get her "patched up," as my mom put it. Is she a bit of a longhair? They shed a lot, but they're the cuddly type. My Creampuff likes to cuddle, and he's a longhair.

Blessings on her and her new family.

My dream cat...scroll down to a silver or a silver mackeral one, that's what I want! Must have ear tufts and preferably would have gold eyes. Could be a girl, but I'd rather have a male since they grow to be bigger.
A resident in a nursing home I worked at had a coon cat and I fell in love with the breed then and have wanted one since!

Debby, it was only this weekend that Jim agreed we could have a new cat. We went with the intention of getting one I had seen on the internet but she wasn't friendly at all and kept trying to get back into her cage. I think she's been there too long.

Yes, Patches is a Calico does have longer hair. She's quite beautiful. The pictures don't do her justice. She has ear tufts and feels like angora.

She's been in my lap most of the afternoon. I gave her a can of tuna fish as soon as we got home so I think I've made a friend!

    She's so pretty, Diane!

Does she get to sleep with you or Nick?

Our last kitty always slept with Son, even though she was my kitty.

That'll be up to her. Dubbs always would wander from bed to bed unless Jim was away and then he'd stretch out in Jim's spot and sleep with his head on his pillow!

Here's a link to a picture the animal shelter had on the internet. She's a lot smaller than she looks in these picture.

Diane, sounds like you may have a bed partner there, too!

Say, I forgot to mention that we had a surprise added to our Christmas weekend! I thought something was up when the pastor was done preachin' at 12:05 instead of 12:30, and I could let the kids go early. After we were done cleaning up from the mess the kids and my daughter had made (another story), we were ready to walk out of the church when we noticed something was getting ready to start in the sanctuary! A wedding! Sort of the spur-of-the-moment type. They grabbed the pianist to stay, her husband (who always has his camera) was taking pictures, they put some pointsetias on the communion table, and about 25 people were gathered in the front. Pastor asked us if we'd stay. Who could say no to a wedding? Turns out it was a couple we had just met Christmas eve. Their families had been at odds for a long time, and the couple had just made a commitment to Christ, and the families had reconciled. And, since they had been living together for 10 years (imagine!), they decided that as new beleivers they should make things right. They went out last week and got a license and rings. The "bride" marched down one aisle, the "groom", the other. They were wearing just what they had worn to church that morning. But it was so beautiful! I was glad we were there to represent the church. Pastor was so thrilled to see it all work out, he was beaming. Such joy! Praise God for healing and reconciliation!! Isn't that a great story?

That IS wonderful Debby. A young woman in our church had a rushed marriage two weekends ago. She's a new Christian and felt under conviction about what was being done while waiting to marry her fiance so they got married in a simple ceremony.

Gib has been holding out on us!

In one of his pictures that he posted for Christmas, there was a cat perched on the arm of his couch!

Now he HAS to come clean... :D
