    George

Heard about the fellow who went golfing with his friend named George. On the third hole, George had a heart attack and died. When the fellow got home, his wife asked him how the golf game went. He mentioned the heart attack of George. She replied, "Oh, my how tragic for you. What did you...

How many dots do you see?

I make no claim on the genius title, but I saw a dozen.

How do Fundamental Baptists view other Baptists then?

Interesting read and backstory, brother. Thanks for the insights and history of the Landmark Baptist brethren. Trained in schools in the North, much of the events in Tennessee and in the SBC are "foreign" to me

What would be your recommendation for a basic Christian library?

We recommended inexpensive hands-on (print) books for new believers to enhance their understanding of the Bible, lands, words, doctrine. About $30 and that is amazing price. $8.50 Nelson Bible Dictionary...

    Tipping

Tips are NOT income. They are gifts we give (for whatever reason) and like any present, should not have "tax" on them. Or called "wage" on W-2 Love countries where tipping is not a part of their lifestyle. Restaurants and others "service" employees are paid a decent, agreed-upon wage. I used to...

Big gov says "debt we owe to ourselves doesn't matter". Right? Wrong.

    My summer Vacation

Our whole summer travel plan screeched to a halt with health issues. Can no longer fly, so travel to SoCal for wedding of grandson last weekend was out of the question. We will do some shorter day trips (150-mile loop max) since it's been 40 years since living in Wisconsin where we've retired...

    Longest State Highways

A-1 but only in the Anchorage and Valley (100 miles). More time south (Seward, Sodoltna) joke to call it "interstate" as most is just 2-lane typical state highway. Did run to Fairbanks and time in the pipeline at Big Delta/Delta Junction. Car troubles stopped me from seeing dear friends in Tok...

What organized youth programs do you use?

Great resource for ANY size church for youth program. Inexpensive. Buy low=cost programs customized to your church. Doug and Josh are about the most qualified men to start this ministry TO youth workers/churches. Disclosure: Josh is my 50-year-old son and I raised him right. :)...

    Background checks

Yes. including references. Church Mutual Insurance has requirements and information on how/what to do and our church followed it to the "T". Guarding precious children and teens and their families was job 2 (after the spiritual focus).

    Somber Statistics for 2025

The survey didn't, but I'd assume that many see church as either simply a religious duty to "earn points with God" OR as a type of social gathering (like the country club or the local tavern) Sadly.

I try NEVER to say that - if I'm asked a tough question, I just don't answer until I've had opportunity myself to study it out. I don't know YET but I will!! And on some, all you get is opinion and general thoughts, NOT an "answer". :)

Welcome. If you have questions about some of the people who post here, join the club. We ALL have questions!! But Bible questions and understanding for the sake of KNOWING and LIVING the Word is our goal. Some come to argue (they have the spiritual gift of orneriness and use dill pickle...

Bring in the Youth But Not at the Expense of the Elderly

Old thread that did not impact me 15 years ago. Our mission church was "family" oriented, small, and did nothing special for ANY age group. Now I'm aged and gray and see the expanding Boomer population 65-80 are the MOST UNDERSERVED segment of society and in our churches. Most churches have...

    Somber Statistics for 2025

CHURCHES: **Over 15,000 churches will close in 2025; only about 4,000 new churches will be started **46% of Americans believe church is important to them now, down from average of 70% for last 6 decades **Over half of churches in America cannot pay their pastor a full-time salary (many part-time...

Why did God allow the confusion of how to be saved?

I pointer. I've always held that if a person truly believes man is completely unable to seek, search, will, want, desire, decide, do good (in sight of God), make righteous decisions, incapable of one iota of salvation, that man's will is 100% in bondage to our sin nature, then man MUST realize...

Why did God allow the confusion of how to be saved?

Won't argue either, but "other side of the fence"?? It's up to man to understand and figure it out . . . and some smart ones will and other dumb ones won't? That seems horrifically close to "works" salvation instead of God's grace salvation.

Do the KJVO consider any translation valid then to use?

Foreign translators CAN'T use the same Greek the Anglicans used in 1611 since that collection of Greek texts DOES NOT EXIST. Remember, it is not ONE document, but many that were compiled as considered the "best" and history records that compilation was burned. Now the sect simply has to say...
