    Because we are an automatous local Baptist church - ie the SBC has no control over us. Our affiliation is strictly voluntarily! We are NOT required to support SBC missionaries, use lifeway, attend any meetings, what Bible version to use, and ect. In fact, did you know there are SBC churches...

    My belief is that a church (along with associations) should be starting new local churches. My pet peeve is when folks are traveling 30-50 miles to attend a church (yes, there are exceptions - ie low population....)

    lots of things churches do are not mentioned in Scripture -ie pews and songbooks - unless prohibited - it is not a problem

    I stopped by the BCNY yesterday. They were preparing letters to mail to the churches for our State Convention. Well, they just handed me my envelope and thus, I saved the BCNY - 75 Cents! Boy, that made me feel great! well at least for the rest of the day. Mrs Salty was buying a new car...

    On another thread, it was mentioned that Bellevue Bap has a membership of some 30,000, but only about 7,000 attend weekly. (& that includes on-line) so that amounts to about only 23% of all members attending! Granted, some are in nursing homes, some work on Sunday, ect - So those who do not...

    But how many attend every week?? According to Ministry Watch: "Bellevue is one of the largest congregations in the Southern Baptist Convention. Between in-person and online worship services, it has reported a weekly attendance of 7,382 people."

    Call it what you want - but that is what they believe. So let me ask you this - if a person does not believe in the concept - of the Trinity - can that individual still get saved and go to Heaven?
