The NIV and ESV refer to Jesus as an “it” in 1 John 1:2

But it was you who asked what 3708 was. I replied that it is the Strong's number for the Greek word translated "seen". So you didn't know you were talking about "seen", but you were, because you mentioned the Strong's number for the Greek word for "seen."

The NIV and ESV refer to Jesus as an “it” in 1 John 1:2

    It's the Greek word for "see" or "behold". 1Jo 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

    John Calvin - Textual critic

It would be helpful if you could quote what Calvin actually said or wrote. It seems highly unlikely that he said that God's word has mistakes in it. Are you sure he wasn't referring to a translation of the bible?

    Is vigor same as sin?

Baptists use various translations of the bible, depending mainly on what language they speak. A Baptist who speaks only Japanese is not likely to use any English translation, for example. As for English-speaking Baptists, some use the KJV, some use the NKJV, some use the HCSB, and so on. The...

    Is vigor same as sin?

The words "of the sin" are in italics in the KJV, so they don't translate words from the original Hebrew. I understand that the Hebrew word translated "youth" can mean youth or vigour. So NKJV's "youthful vigour" incorporates both meanings.

Christ SHALL Save His People From Their Sins

Just to make sure I haven't misunderstood you, can you confirm that you believe Jesus came to earth and died on the cross only to save Jews? I agree with what John Gill wrote in his commentary on Matthew 1:21: "By "his people" whom he is said to save are meant, not all mankind, though they...

    The True Gospel Preacher

But as Paul wrote to Christians at Ephesus reminding them of their salvation: “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works...

    Thanks, that makes things clearer.

Reasons Why Professed Christians Fail To See or Grasp The Doctrines Of Grace

Calvinist believe that, too, that one must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved.

Reasons Why Professed Christians Fail To See or Grasp The Doctrines Of Grace

But the (we) don't trust the WCF/LBCF over the bible. Everything that is stated in those two confessions of faith is backed up with Scripture references. Now, you might disagree with their interpretation of Scripture, but wou shouldn't say that they trust the confessions above Scripture.

New defense of Japeth is elder

Not dure whose post your "No" refers to. JD731? 37818? Somebody else? Just the single word "No" doesn't make it clear.

    "Satisfy"

True, but is he really making God's creation look so dismal? He is not really talking about Creation, but those sorrows, difficulties and troubles that afflict us in our lives - I note that his title was "Through Baca's Vale."

    "Satisfy"

Why depressing? I too am in awe when I look at a sunset or the flight of a bird, but Philpott was comparing such passing things with the eternal reality of our glorious Saviour.

What God did on Earth's first fourth day.

I don't think God tells us in His word when He created angels. How can you be so sure that they were "made before Day One?"

Greeks may say Happy Pascha" to mean "Happy Easter" now, but at the time the New Testament was written, there wasn't a festival called "Easter." "Pascha" in the New Testament means "Passover." Herod would have wanted to wait until after the Jewish feat of Passover before bringing Peter to...

But there is an issue. Why should the word "pascha" which means "Passover," be translated "Easter?" Just pointing to translation which do use "Easter" does not mean there is no issue. And as for Tyndale having "Easterlamb", even you say that it means "Passover Lamb."

I believe so, yes. That is how the Greek word in the original is translated every other time it occurs.

    Justified from all things

Two points: Firstly, the words "for all" are in italics in the KJV and in the NKJV, which means they have been added by the translators, and do not translate any particular Greek words fro the original. Secondly, "once for all," or "once and for all" is a phrase used in English to mean...

I am a KJBO Independent Fundamental Dispesationlist Baptist

When Christians use the word "Easter" now, they mean the remembrance of the resurrection of the Saviour. Such an annual remembrance is not found in the bible. The early Christians met for worship on Sunday, because Jesus rose on the first day of the week. They didn't have an annual "Easter."...

That is one of my favourite hymns. I particularly like the verses you highlighted.
