    Michael Heiser

Mike and I taught at Pillsbury Baptist College in the 1990's and were friends. Many of his "unique" views developed later. We appreciated his great intellect and thinking skills and were saddened at his death last year just a few days after his 60th birthday.

Who will answer with a yes or no?

Policy on threads dealing with sovereignty of God v sovereignty of man, Calvinism v Arminianism, and their ilk is to isolate and confine to this C&A forum. Sadly, this policy has not been enforced but will be. Thank you for looking at the topic you may post and having the honesty to segregate...

The unique and imperfect Oxford KJV edition in old Scofield Reference Bible

Interesting discussion. I've always preferred the Oxford 1769 over the Cambridge, but LOTS of small changes in editions in the first few years after they came out.

    "Graduating" from the NIV

The two options for the "word-for-word" accuracy without all the dated pitfalls of our evolving English language (think AV1611 and its constant revisions) are the ASV (and its modern offspring) or the ESV. I did my undergrad with ASV1901 and found it did not "flow" in reading, although most...

    Clarks Summit hits rock bottom

Probably no disagreement except from Scranton Chamber of Commerce. Probably no need for your comment. either, as no bearing on the sad news of a good Baptist university/seminary closing.

Which Canon of the Bible do you believe in?

The issue of church councils is promoted by the Roman Catholic church, since councils/traditions of fallible men are equal (or MORE) than the inspired Word of God

    ~Sigh~ I'm Back - for This Reason....

Fun to be back. Just had to ban a new member. Linked porn to otherwise normal posts in a non-baptist forum. Grrr.

    ~Sigh~ I'm Back - for This Reason....

I have been unable to access the site and talking privately over the past 20 months. Grrrr. But as of yesterday I miraculously gained access and hope to serve BB again as I have since it's founding 24 years ago!

    ~Sigh~ I'm Back - for This Reason....

You weren't LOCKED OUT but left voluntarily? I envy you. ;) Seriously, it feels a little like home to see you and other "mature" friends posting

    Fundamentalism Versus Evangelicalism

I try to put the fun back in fundamentalism, but most people pray that Jesus will heal my lame jokes.

Is same sex attraction a temptation or sinful lust?

Good to be seen!! Glad the system finally allowed an Administrator actually back in to post again!

    "Graduating" from the NIV

My church/family used KJV1769 Oxford (not the evil Cambridge :) ) usually Scofield Notes or Thompson Chain. In high school we home schooled, and for Bible we used the NIV (every word, every verse thru entire Bible in 3 years each morning. Kids "eyes were opened" and they better understood a...

Which Canon of the Bible do you believe in?

If you teach false doctrine, you NEED Bible references to justify the teaching. To add "religious books and writings" that were NOT perfect or in keeping with the other books of the canon was the smokescreen to add credibility. This is Romanism. If you DON'T add books, then you need to make...

Was there a Jack Hyles "denomination" of fundamental Baptists?

We use the word "sect" on the BB for those following pernicious errors (and those, like Hyles, teaching and promoting them). We do NOT use the word "cult". But if we did use that word, the men/churches following his beliefs and practicing them in the name of Christ, the Webster Dictionary...

    Fundamentalism Versus Evangelicalism

Amen, say we. Someone asked me if I were a fundamentalist. I said, "No FUN" "All DAMN" "Little MENTAL" seemed to describe me pretty well :) (Caveat: Dr Bauder and I are old friends, from the same school of thought and circles of life)

Is same sex attraction a temptation or sinful lust?

Like the old, simple distinction: "Temptation can be either internal or external but lust is primarily internal and private. Lust is essentially temptation that has been allowed to grow and fester in a person's heart and mind to the point that they desire whatever they are tempted by."

Baptist Bible College (Springfield, Mo.) has changed its name

Pillsbury shifted some away from its shrinking roots and Minnesota churches (most also shrinking) until 1996 when instead of just closing, they started a 10-year program to return. Sadly, too little, too late. Damage done and loyalties shifted. Closed 2010 and graciously Maranatha Baptist...

    Clarks Summit hits rock bottom

Very sad. Know some good men who have taught there and others who have trained there. Was told of a new hire for Fall2024 who signed contract and moved family in June to the area and less than a month later was set adrift without a job or resources. I believe the source of this story but...

Cedarville University, Putting the Liberal into Liberal Arts

Sad for any Christian organization to give a voice to such political and antichrist trash. We have a young man from our church at Cedarville now because his mother is an alumnae. May have op to talk with her about this disgrace.

    Back on Baptist Board

Welcome back into the fold, brother! Since both my sons are SBC pastors I will be kind. And both 5-point biblicists, too, so you should feel at home.
