    Is God Intrinsically Just?

Well, to name but two: John 1:29. "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." 1 John 3:4-5. 'Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.' Now, please, pay...

    Non-dispensational Premillennialism

Historic Premillennialism sees Christ returning and setting up a 1,000 year reign followed by 'Satan's little Season' which is crushed and leads to the Eternal State. It is not dispensational and is consistent with Covenant theology. It doesn't appear to be opposed to the WCF or the 1689. If I...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

Wow! That is really impressive! Did you learn that at seminary? I can just imagine all the eager people coming to hear you expound the Bible "Here is the meaning of 'And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.' It means that God has laid on Jesus the sins of all of man." "Golly...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

That's fine, but the question is, is God just because He chooses to be? Could He choose to be unjust if that was how He felt? Or is justice intrinsic to His nature?

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

Just follow the dots. '..... And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all' ......... 'He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree' .......... 'The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land'.......'And you know that He was manifested to take away our...

What Were the Apostles Commissioned to Do in Evangelism?

You will notice that I included 'raised' in my list of what it means to preach Christ. But we have to preach the 'whole Christ.' If He was not crucified, He was not raised. If He is not the one prophesied, He is not the Christ. If He is not reigning in heaven, He will not be the one...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

No indeed. God does not have to clear the guilty because Christ has not only borne our sins, but actually taken them away (John 1:29), and whether you like it or not, God is perfectly just, firstly because, in a very real sense it was God who suffered on the cross (Acts of the Apostles 20:28)...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

This is true. Satan was 'The accuser of our brethren, who accused [note the past tense] them before our God day and night' (Revelation 12:10). How is it that Satan was able to come right into the presence of God to accuse His people of sin? The answer is, because he had truth on his side...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

What is your point in quoting the earlier verses? You do not say. You can go back to 1:1, but you still will not avoid the fact that Peter tells us that God judges righteously, and that Christ bore our sins and the curse attached to them on the cross. Therefore it must be just and righteous...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

Thank you so much! At least one person has answered in the spirit of the OP. I agree with you. This board does not discuss very much the nature of God. His 'simplicity' is a very important part of His nature, but unfortunately everything here comes back to Calvinism and PSA.

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

No. Owen was a Calvinist and believed in PSA when he wrote Death of Death. However that book was written against the Arminians (who also believed in PSA). At that time, as the OP relates, Owen did not believe that God's justice was intrinsic to him. When he came in to contact with the...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

LOL to you too! Owen was a Calvinist before and after he changed his mind. And LOL I did not say that Universal Atonement is PSA; I said that the two are not mutually exclusive.

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

The thread topic is 'Is God intrinsically Just' not 'PSA is a Fiction.' If you want to start your own thread on that latter subject, please feel free to do so.

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

Absolutely. But they also believed in Penal Substitution. The one does not deny the other. ’Tis finished! The Messiah dies, Cut off for sins, but not His own: Accomplished is the sacrifice, The great redeeming work is done. ’Tis finished! all the debt is paid; Justice divine is satisfied...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

:Rolleyes Writing in big letters is often a mark of childishness. It certainly does not make the argument any stronger. But you are correct on one thing: plenty of professing Christians hold some mistaken views.

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

First of all, it seems clear that God does not share your concerns. In 1 Peter 2:23-24, Peter declares first, that God 'judges justly' and then goes on to declare that Christ bore our sins and the curse attached to them, and in Romans 3:25-26, Paul asserts that the setting forth of Christ as a...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

I quite agree with you. God never felt wrath against the Lord Jesus Christ. His wrath is against sin, and Christ became our sin-bearer (Isaiah 53:6; 1 Peter 2:24). God is the definition of justice (eg. Deuteronomy 32:3-4). His justice is seen in that God sent the Lord Jesus to pay the...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

God is not 50% just and 50% merciful; He is 100% of each. Hence the cross (cf. Psalms 85:10). My understanding is that Cromwell's behaviour at Drogheda has been falsified by generations of Irish folklore. His actions were basically more merciful than the custom of the times, and certainly...

    Is God Intrinsically Just?

Plenty of non-Calvinists have believed in PSA, notably the Wesleys.
