What are your thoughts regarding Charles Stanley's divorce (in 2000)?

It is old news. But it does bother me-- if it ever comes to mind any more-- that he said a divorced man is not qualified for a church office-- no qualifiers added-- and then he continues on as pastor. That is hypocrisy.

The reason Baptist preachers teach tithing

No. Yes. So you have given all? You own no home, vehicle, clothes, ...anything?

The reason Baptist preachers teach tithing

I didn't ask you if it's a pleasure or what your motive is. I asked if you give everything you have or earn. And if you do get pleasure from giving, then why would you not give everything, as you get more than you receive (you say), so then you can get more of the pleasure of giving?

The reason Baptist preachers teach tithing

Then do you give everything you have or earn? If not, why not? You would have more if you did, according to your thesis. Indeed, why do you not own everything in the world if the principle is absolutely true? And if you did give the whole world away, what would you get then?-- a bigger world?

Illegal border crossings... how true is this?

Before I pass this on with the assumption that it is essentially true, how true is it-- anyone know?

Prove it wrong: There is not one verse about predestination to salvation

So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed ]throughout the whole earth.” So then He has mercy on...

Begotten or Made and Mary's role in your Salvation

Then were Mary's parents without sin, or did the incorruptible come form corruption? And their parents? and theirs?,,,, Also, how could Mary be a doubter ["How can this be, as I know not a man?"], when the same kind of doubt made Zechariah mute until his son, John, was born, and the Bible says...

Charles Stanley Life Principles Study Bible

I learned about 'life principles' a long time ago. And the Mercy Seat. In the first grade I feared for my life when I was sent to the Principal's office and had to sit on his mercy seat outside there.

The commercialization of Christmas has been a very good thing...

From an article I wrote in 2017... As it is known that Christmas has a personification, a jolly old man—perhaps elf—that plays the leading role in imagery and fantasy, this seems the place to begin. But the Santa Claus with which Americans have such familiarity took a few centuries to become...

The commercialization of Christmas has been a very good thing...

That shows an origin being pagan, per se, does not rule out an entity being useful to God and his people.

Was Jerusalem an Israelite or Jebusite establishment? How could it be a holy city if it was a fortress established by people who worshipped other gods?

    TV Angel Shows

Where in the Bible does it say we are touched by angels every day? Be aware this is a relevant question, not a derisive one.

    TV Angel Shows

Would you mind telling us exactly how it was offensive? As I have said, I never knew the show beyond occasional glimpses. And if there is a way to present such a show that is both theologically sound and entertaining enough to get an audience-- and I'm not assuming you think there is any such...

Hillary Clinton taking calls, getting closer and closer to running

Considering 2000, why would any poll taker not go by Electoral votes rather than the popular vote?

Hillary Clinton taking calls, getting closer and closer to running

If she does run, I wonder if they [some democrats] are going to follow up with one of the latest conspiracy theories that she was involved in arranging for JFK, Jr., to fly that plane into non-VFR conditions, which resulted in his death, because he might have run against her in the NY Senate...

    TV Angel Shows

I'm not aware of the spinoff from Happy Days about any angel-- are you sure you're not talking about Mork and Mindy? If so, I thought Mork was an alien, but I never knew or watched the show enough to know why he was 'here.' However, there was a comedy series called Down to Earth in the mid-80's...

To the Catholics visiting the Baptist forum.

From the recently closed thread: “For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. You'd have to be an idiot to conclude FAKE FOOD and FAKE DRINK. Then why didn't the disciples bite off his earlobes (or any part) and eat them then? They ate the Passover bread instead. And later they...

New survey: Only one-third of Catholics believe in Real Presence

You're doing what a lot of people do; and on these boards we have them from time to time. Recently it has been a couple of 7th day adventists, to whom we can point out Romans 14:5-6 and Colossians 2:16 to show christians are not obligated to a sabbath day, so they have crates of scripture and...
